I'm watching Buzzer Beat 4, and while I've always loved Naoki (he's a bit vanilla, but totally sweet), he just endeared himself to me totally

YES. I also don't like it when people buy plants and then don't take care of them and let them die. It's not a "suffering" or "rights" issue (obviously) but rather a "respect for life" issue.
I'm afraid of lots of insects (and shipwrecks ugggh) but I still don't kill them for the most part. (I kill mosquitoes and wasp-like bugs when they're in my room, because both pose a threat).
Totally. I hate it so much when people kill plants, and are just like "it's just a plant!"... Plants ARE alive too, and while they can't feel pain, they still deserve to be respected. Like, I get so upset when people cut down trees for no reason. It almost hurts.
Yay! I stopped killing bugs when I was a kid (we're talking probably 8 or 9), and the only times I can ever remember killing them purposefully since then was when we had houseflies, and one time when I had a ton of fruit flies in my room. I felt horrible after both incidents. I don't kill mosquitoes anymore, and I never killed wasps/hornets/bees (they're my favorite insects). I'm a bit weird though. I still save earthworms from being crushed on the sidewalks when it rains.
I knoooow. It's the "for no reason" part specifically that's annoying. Cause, of course, people can't EXIST without killing plants (even if we were all fruitarians). But if there's no reason then...why??
Even a single mosquito will bite me 3-4 (or even 6-7) times, and I get such a bad reaction from the bites, I think it's fair. And because I keep my door closed almost all the time, hardly any mosquitoes end up in my room. (We're talking one or two a month). I don't kill bees; bees are cuuuute! I save earthworms too! Earthworms are cuuuute, as are slugs, snails, and caterpillars. I totally get ladybug infestations every year, but the idea of killing ladybugs (directly by crushing or indirectly by using poison) weirds me out so I just wait it out.
If you think about it, we (as in Westerners) are SO lucky when it comes to bugs that it seems kind of silly to feel the need to kill all bugs that enter your house. Having a zero tolerance policy for bugs is weird..
I assume it's because people are naturally destructive.
DUDE, do you think you're allergic to mosquito bites? The only insects that bother me inherently are flies. The buzzing freaks me out. I don't mind them outside my house, but inside I tend to freak out a bit. I've gotten good at catching and releasing them though. Ladybug infestations? That sounds oddly cute.
Oh, I KNOW. I'm even more lucky. Up here we don't get big or dangerous bugs at all (save a couple spiders here and there).
I kill bugs like a fiend, but I hate when people pick flowers for no reason. >___> I think my hypocrisy stems from the fact my father used to work in a greenhouse, and I raised plants instead of pets. I get protective.
Makes sense! I love plants intensely. Not as much as animals, but botany is one of my favorite subjects.
I hate when people pick flowers and throw them away, or when people rip up plants. I'm a terribly gardener because I always let the weeds grow undisturbed.
finally someone like me!!!!

ever since i realized that plants and bugs are alive, I've never hurt them without it being for food. the only times i think i've ever purposely killed a bug were when mosquitoes bit me and my reflexes took over and i saw a black widow that i was trying to save from my dad, but it got pissed at me trying to get it in a age and started running toward my leg and instinct took over before i could stop it, then i started sobbing uncontrollably most of the rest of the day. whenever a bug is in my house, it either stays if it's a spider so it will help naturally control the other bugs (we had an indian meal-moth infestation, but then we let the house spiders into our house, and it went down fast) or outside, even roaches :) Plants don't seem AS important to me since they can't feel the pain but i still try to keep from disrespecting them. the way i see it, humans were meant to eat animals and plants just like a lion eats a gazelle and a gazelle eats grass, but we shouldn't take away their lives for no reason other than that we don't want
