So, about a month ago I was talking to a person that I had just met who was telling me about going to one of the Valley Light Opera's productions back in 2005. I never understood why the fine arts always seem to have that hypernegative, critical approach. I don't think it's a good way to learn, because it fosters fear (of failure) and competitiveness as a foundation for improvement instead of creativity and curiosity. Also, most of the "genius" artists were thoroughly snubbed in their own time by the very people who were supposed to be experts in their arts. I hate phony, overprocessed music as much as the next person, but music evolved as an expression of emotion and a way of bringing communities together, not dividing them.
