Heights Fun Run

I ran the 22nd Annual Heights Fun Run 5k today and PRed. This appears to be a trend, since the same thing happened last yearMy splits were 8:25, 8:50, 9:15 and 0:54, finishing in 27:25. Pretty awful pacing, but I had to stop and walk during the 3rd mile to avoid puking. It was exceedingly humid at 94 ( Read more... )

There was an article in last month's Runner's World that for 5k (and 5k only) going out too fast with the first mile being the fastest is actually a better strategy. Looks like it worked for you. :)

Yeah, someone was telling me that today. But, I do like the feeling of having something left at the end that a negative split gives you.

Actually, I've also pondered running the first 20 miles of a marathon at a faster pace. Since I'll be walking the last 6 miles regardless ;-)
