questions from a new grad student

1. what are the best places to study on campus? places to avoid?

2. if i wanted to drive to campus to study, where should i park?

3. where is there a microwave i can use?

4. what are some perks grad students have that i should know about?

1. i don't usually study much on campus, but there is a grad student study area on one of the upper floors.. maybe 8th? UCEN has wireless and lots of tables.

2. you'll need a permit or pay (fairly expensive). some people park at the beach and walk, which is not allowed and people are sometimes ticketed. you could also park in iv but there's hardly any parking. you can register as a commuter through transportation services and get some free parking time. your student id is also a free bus pass.

3. i know there is one in the arbor, i think a few other food venues have them as well. many department main offices will have one.

4. free bagel hour on wednesdays, usually around 8/830 to 10 in the associated students building.
