Author's Note: I hadn't initially planned on writing a companion piece to Lost, but I had it in my head after re-watching Nearest to Heaven to write something in Fanette's

This was absolutely wonderful on do many levels. The visual imagery of Fanette smoking out of the bedroom window was an image that really worked for me because that window,for some reason - seemed to be a big part of the movie for me. When I first saw it, the things I remembered were the hand on the door handle of the car and Francesca looking out of her bedroom window.

So this was great - and then to add in the small detail of a paper cup, Fanette smoking.

I also adored the combination of French and Italian dialogue because I feel like it gave both characters that exotic eroticism. Both coming from entirely different worlds foreign to Iowa - and both completely alone there.

I am so glad you decided to add on to this. These characters work so well together. And to imagine Meryl making out with Deneuve in any which way is smoldering hot as a standalone.
