It's like this man has been brainwashed and forgot all about season 7. All about it.

It's just his opinion, but as far as I'm concerned I'd prefer Spike to be defined by himself than by his relationship with Buffy. Look at Angel and what Whedon has done to him by keeping it all.about.buffy (not exactly all, but still)
