aw man

So a friend of mine visiting NYC got mugged last night. Lost her ID, her cash, and her phone. We came up with an idea on how to get home(having her passport mailed to her) but whoever her phone got sold to seems unwilling to sell for what cash she can scrap together.

I feel pretty bad that I can't help :(

Um, you're welcome for the passport idea ;)

It worked out well! It didn't even hit me that one could use that thing as flight ID; I've never used mine for that purpose. Only for getting into other countries.

I think that airport security actually prefers passports over driver's licenses or what not now a days. It's easier for them to tell if it's fake or not since Passports are national, whereas a state ID they might not be familiar with it.

I'm glad your friend managed to get it mailed though and will not have to worry about ID to get home!

Yup! Now it's just a matter of surviving in that city without money! Although I think she has a network of friends to mooch off of, so that's alright.

You need a passport to get home from NYC? Where does she live?

Well, to fly, you need some sort of government ID. Normally this can just be a license or state ID, but since hers got stolen, she didn't have any other way to get back. You can use a passport though, hence why she's having a friend mail it to her :P

Also to answer the other question, she's from San Francisco!
