Well the flap came and went about LJ allegedly forcing you to specify your gender. Turns out it was a coding mistake or some such. Imagine that! LJ did something that actually wasn't part of a nefarious plot to anger their user bse. I agree that NON-gendered people (or, both-gendered?) are a small fraction of the population at best, but they exist-- and I have run into several of them myself personally. (Such are the circles I travel in.) Actual hermaphrodites exist, for example. And science is finding that human brains are even more subject to being 'mixed up' sexually than genitalia. So, really, it should come as no surprise that some people actually don't prefer to identify themselves with one gender over another. I'm cool with that.

Your last paragraph makes total sense, though. It was an innocent mistake and they handled it and were decent about it. No biggie.

But some people like to get worked up into a drama, you know...

What I'm saying here is that the BRAIN can be biologically hermaphroditic, even when the genitalia are not. Its pretty complicated up there, I hear tell!! =^P
