I think it involves snow, a moving vehicle, and shoes that don't grip too much. We used to do it when it first snowed and the plows hadn't cleared the streets. Someone drives and everyone else holds on to the bumper and 'skis' behind the car.
Actually sounds funuberdionysusApril 12 2007, 19:41:37 UTC
We would do something similar. We'd grab a car bumper while on a skateboard or bike.
I remember Mike and a group of kids holding a rope attached to a truck bumper and trying to 'ski' on the beach. It didn't work very well, and I don't remember anyone successfully 'skiing.'
I don't think any of us surfed on the hood or roof, but you may recall me talking about 'submarining'(driving with the lights off on country roads), and hanging out of the window to our hips swinging baseball bats, flat-out racing (my first car was a '70 Dodge Challenger R/T), and other assorted dumb shit in vehicles. One of my friends drove that Challenger pegged down the freeway at two in morning -- with a 440 Magnum and six carbs, I know that vehicle had be going 140+ m.p.h. Myself, I went through the Fort Pitt Tunnels into downtown Pgh doing 130 on a Yamaha Fazer. Later I did close to 160 on I-80 on a buddy's zx-10 Ninja.
Yeah, I remember that. We did the same thing, but I don't think we called it anything. Maybe we did and I just don't remember. I would do it driving home to Goffs, which was 30 miles away from Needles (were I went to school). I would do it for the adrenaline rush when I started to get sleepy. I knew the roads pretty damn well and loved it when the steering wheel kicked once you got off into the dirt.
There were few mailboxes to play baseball with, but we did that too.
We didn't have crotch rockets. Lots of muscle cars and motocross, tho. My Dodge van had a V-8 and could top 110, but not sure how much faster it could go, 'cause that's where the speedometer stopped. My Corolla, of course, didn't go very fast.
