I love this part but i can't help to be angry at john and Cam, they give up Rodney, Cam has a win and Rodney lost, i can easily imagine him alone at atlantis, with small sleep, eating power bar.
Yes Cam and John are sweet but Rodney is so hurt, it's not good for his feelings.

For the birth part it was amazing, i have 4 kids and some feelings make me thing about my pregnancies and labours.

I hope a update soon because i'm starving to read more.

Thank you! I am already hard at work on the next part. I'm glad you found the labor parts realistic. I don't have any kids and if I ever have any it won't be for a while yet, so I'm happy you found it credible. Rodney really did get screwed over this chapter, but thing will get better for him eventually.

Nice birth scene. I really liked all the details you made the story richer with: the special Ancient birthing medical facilities, John's father and the way he conceived and carried John, and Carson--of the Edinburgh Becketts (hee!)

Thanks for another chapter in this great, fascinating 'verse! Again, I'm floored by the amount of thought & research & backstory you must've done to write this, & how it makes every paragraph & interaction rich with detail. Noble & imperial bloodlines & influence, cultural assumptions, ancillary roles & even scams, politics & powerful families, teenaged pages at Guild conventions, Patrick's special birthing robe & sheets & "traditional blessing," how John's injuries affect him & the neonate, the details of how the neonate-becoming-baby looks & moves & feeds, Cam's calm "Bye, baby" knowing he won't see him again for six months or more... it's awe-inspiring! (If you ever do a DVD commentary on this series I'll be first in line to read it

Thank you so much for the great feedback! Strangely, pretty much all the research I did for this is looking at kangaroos and birds. How birds make eggs is actually pretty creepy in my opinion
