[CWS] A short review of the last meeting

Mar 09, 2012 16:08

Well, our last meeting went well, didn't it?
My plot developed a lot, even if it seemed to change at least once every ten minutes. *lol*

Now, with a week gone, I'd like to know how you liked the last meeting. Was it beneficial for your plotting?
And, what do you think that we should work on next time? The next meeting will be about plot again, so this ( Read more... )

To me the last meeting felt a little like bootcamp. But in a good way.
I thought I was prepared for the meeting and then it all exploded right in my face. But after all, this made me look at the story from a different angle and although I'm in a mess of plotlines at the moment, I think I can weave the two approaches together. It just requires work (duh!).

And while I'm at it: Thank you so much for putting so much effort into our group meetings!

I'm sorry that you felt like bootcamp - and that I left you in a mess of plotideas. But, I have to admit that at least the latter result was intended. ;-)
The meeting was meant to give everyone ideas to work with. And I'm happy to hear that it worked for you.

Getting everything into some semblance of order is a task even I shy away from. But I keep telling myself, that it's just supposed to be a preliminary plot map anyway, so it won't need to be perfect. It's allowed to have holes and to look a bit thin in some (or most) parts. That's the main purpose of a preliminary (!) plot, after all.

I think I noticed that I'm the kind of writer which defines his stpries through their charcters after all (I wouldn't have thought so before). What I'm saying is that I kind of had a lot of dejavuz during that meeting, like, yeha I know what has to happen, yes, Ive written that down last time already and so on. That wasn't due to your tasks though I'm afraid. And as the others git more and more ideas and a-ha effects, I thought whether I'm being to simple or bald with my ideas... :(
And since my "Praktikum" will only be over on march 23rd (I've finished most of my "Projektplanung" today- which will be graded...), I won't be able to go "sherlocking" and plunging deeper into my scenes until then.
So I don't know what I want to do next time- I simply hope that I can find the time and effort to do and write all that stuff I want to write in order to make any progress.

But nevertheless, I agree with sijur's kudos for you- once more a great job!

Oh, never mind that. :-)

What you say, is very interesting. Since you are writing a 'classical' Fantasy story, do you think it would be helpful for you, if we went into the "mythical journey"-structure a bit earlier than planned?

I'll try to find something specific for fantasy-themed stories, alright?

Now, take a guess: How much (in percent) of your overall (external) plot do you have (as ideas, or notes, etc.)?
Just a rough estimate would be helpful. And what parts of the plot currently make problems for you?
