Goodbye environment and economic growth, it was nice knowing you. Was also nice having the prospect of being able to marry my bear, and get broadband exceeding 1.5mbps next year. I guess 2019 isn't too long to wait for an upgrade to 25mbps. And I hear marriage isn't all that great anyway.

Bah, that sucks. :/ Very sorry to hear. 2019? There won't be another election before that?

Technically, yes - but they're still 2 years from completing the implementation of what WAS the existing plan, and with the setbacks from this group of people who know nothing beyond what's on their desk, it'll take a while to come up with a plan to fix - so either way, 2019-ish.

OK, I think I understand - measures that had been intended were not actually fully implemented yet, and they are going to be rolled back now under Beremy Scumbum, and after Scumbum's ousted again, it'll take a while to roll back the rollback, AND then finish implementing what'd been planned all along to begin with.

That's pretty much the long and the short of it, yeah. I think he has a hard-on for copper, and thinks that a few billion saved on not replacing corroded lines with fibre optic is worth the impact on business etc.

At our office, we were waiting for the speed increase to make it feasible to offer our customers off-site backup via the net. Not gonna happen now.
