Katie and I are hosting a fundraiser for the University of Washington Department of Applied Mathematics on November 15th. We're getting donations of kegs from local microbreweries (TDB; details expected on Friday). All proceeds will be used to fund at least one research position over the summer. We have no idea what the field of study for this

I figure I'll tell them I am a social Libertarian who believes in Jury Nullification.

There's a good Curb your Enthusiasm episode about how to get out of jury duty. As an aside, I've been a registered voter for 14 years and have never once been summoned for jury duty. Which makes me frustrated because a) I don't work so it wouldn't be a big deal for me to do it, and b) I'm really interested in the whole process and would love to participate.
