About Callum Keith Rennie in "Californication"

Searching for another article I stumbled accidently over this one today. It's a review about the show "Californication", mostly about the main character Hank Moody but Callum is mentionned too (spoilerish, so don't read it if you wanna see "Californication" Season 2 for the first time).

(...) After quickly tuning out for the remainder of the ( Read more... )

Wow, this is a bad review. I can see some of its points even though I am not up to date with the current season. The show can be a little over the top for me. The bald guy always makes me cringe. :P Callum got a very nice mention - yay. "Better than their lead." *g* I love Lew Ashby, he made season 2 not only bearable for me but much fun to watch. *can't wait for Shattered*

I agree with you about the bald guy. Charlie is the worst part of the show imho and his wife isn't any better. That's the reason why I don't watch the show any further. Lew Ashby compensated this second storyline about the porn production but without him I have to endure the complete Charly and Marcy arc - no, thanks.

CKR was great, indeed! ♥ He has the ability to make me love his characters, even though the shows he's in can bore me to death.

I also agree with the rest of the review, but... OUCH!

Yes, it's a very devastating critic. I don't think that the character of Hank Moody is that bad, actually I like him somehow. But Lew Ashby was a multidimensional character whereas Moody is very predictable and almost blacant in his expressions compared to him.

It's always good to know the reviewers appreciate Callum's work, too. \o/ His Lew Ashby was so great - one of my favourites of his. My heart broke a little when he died. But I have to say, I also like Californication. It's funny and pretty obscene but it also has emotional and touching moments. Much less shallow than I expected. But I still think that DD is a lousy actor.

Great new header, Tyrella!

I totally agree with you. Even though I knew about his end cause I saw the picture with his statue before I was so sad when it really happens. LA was a great character who upgraded the show.

Thanks for noticing my new header. I guess it was time after we saw the last scenes with Leoben after the release of "The plan" now.

I agree with the Callum-as-Lew-awesomeness of the review without reservation. The review of the show is a bit harsh though. I wasn't taken over by Californication or DD after having watched the 2nd season, but mostly didn't find it a pain to watch, rather entertaining - with cringy moments. Also, I liked Becca and Karen. DD not so much, but I love him for having given this opportunity to Callum!

Did somebody watch the third season? I'm not interested in watching it anymore after Lew left but it would be interesting how they filled the void. I also heard that Karen has no major part anymore because the actresses husband died.
So more space for the Runkles? Yikes.

I didn't. And probably won't. I watched the whole of season two because. Lew. And it was okay. But like I said, not won over. And as you say, more space for the Runkles? *flees*
