The large, red letters forming 'Game over!' flash across the screen. Quatre resists the urge to punch the system and tear out a few wires. He's been playing the game for the second time and still his score comes out below average.
"You should loosen up a bit." Trowa suggests as he leans over the railing that separates the dancing field.
"That's easy for you to say. You and Duo always compete against each other after school." He gives the screen on Trowa's side an envious look. The message 'Congratulations! A perfect score!' flashes bright red and yellow across the screen with confetti popping left and right. "I feel ridiculous over here."
"I'm sorry. We can stop for now."
"Who said anything about stopping?"
Quatre takes off his jacket, flinging it beside the game where his bag rested, loosens his tie, unbuttons his collar and then rolls up his sleeves.
"You want to go another round?"
Slipping a few coins into the game slot, Quatre turns to look at him with a challenging smile, hands resting on either side of his hips.
"I will beat you in this round."
Trowa smirks, "Give me your best shot!"
Granted. Trowa didn't offer to walk Quatre home just so he could play against him at the local game arcade on the DDR machine. He was supposed to take Quatre to the mall, buy him dinner at the food court, introduce the guys to him and simply hang out. But somehow his plans got thwarted as soon as Quatre discovered the DDR.
Quatre chooses the pro-level on the main menu.
"Let's see how well you do on this level, Mr. Barton." He says with a certain glint in his eyes and readies himself for the game to select a random song.
"What's the catch?"
"There's no catch."
"Well then, if I win this round then I expect to receive my reward for playing such a difficult level." Trowa presses the start button, allowing himself to smirk as he hears his challenger sputter an incoherent 'what do you mean?'
Quatre doesn't get a chance to negotiate after that when the steps speedily flash across the screen to start the game.
In the end, Trowa collects his reward with a satisfied smile, leaning closer to an annoyed-looking Quatre and waits.
