Hey everyone!
I'm currently trying to set up a craft show to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. My mom has been supporting them through the Relay For Life for the past few years, and she's been trying to think of more creative ways to raise money. With the craft shows I have participated in over the past couple years, we decided it would ( Read more... )

my mom said to charge the vendors for the table (but you are probably doing this already) and to charge around $2 for admission and say that everything goes to the cancer society. she also said you should try doing this at the forest glade community centre because there's a big parking lot, it's on bus routes, plus there's the library and arena there which might bring in more people. she has experience in doing this type of thing, so she said to feel free to call her :)

she's still talking..

she said to do time it around easter and maybe people will bring in easter crap.

and now she's saying to advertise on channel 11 asking for volunteers/vendors and then actually advertise the event later on. she said that her friend who is with the cancer society (she had breast cancer a few years ago) can post flyers in her store at the university campus and my mom will post them at her KofC.

yay.

i asked the comm centre, and she basically said i have no chance in hell getting in there...
im going to ask around at all the KofCs in the area... except for the one my dad is a ember of, cause its way the fuck out of the way. lol.
im just trying to find a venue now, and flyers might be covered by the cancer society... my mom goes in there all the time to help them out, and they would probably be willing to help out...

Could you see about high schools maybe hosting it in their gyms or something? Definitely charge the vendors a SET amount for the space. Also maybe see if the CCS has like churches or something that they work with that would maybe help out with a lower cost or free venue.
If you're worried about people not wanting to pay to get in you could, say, not set an amount for admission but ask for just ANY donation, I don't know if that would actually work, I've never done this kind of thing before. The pledge cards are a great idea, you could have a specific table set up, or booth or something where they drop their cards off at and can grab a card, but you could also have the vendors put some on their booths so people will see it alot.
I think this is a really good idea.
Good luck!
