I kind of dislike random events that don't directly contribute to the general plot of the RP. Random modly characters messing around with the characters doesn't seem necessary to me. Of course this also depends on the general plot of the RP.

Just randomly, but I think that if an rp has a plot, it should actually head towards that plot. Heck, even wrap up the rp when the plot reaches its conclusion. There's nothing wrong with making a sequel if the first time works out rather than dragging it on and on and on...

I find RPGs that actually have a timeframe to end in very interesting. At the same time, this might be a tad difficult, re: logs and hiatuses.

Curses, special days, how often should these happen, etc etc

UM already said this above but random events that do not contribute to the plot or characterization in any way I find fairly useless? In fact I find events that are totally random often lead to people detracting from canon characterization worst than any AU scenario could do. So, I'd say no to that.

Events or special days that add to the setting I think are okay though? I mean if it is AU or an AU world at least does it have its own holidays or festivals? If it develops a setting or culture in some way I think it could be worthwhile.

...also, active mods. D: A lot of people I know keep complaining when the mods don't accept the applications quick enough. :x

For me, it's not so much app-processing speed as mods that are involved and in touch with the players, and have an actual investment in the game. Mods that simply mod, and never play any of their 209389028093 characters are still bad mods even if they are A++ at keeping up with the friends add. :|

tl;dr: mods should love playing in the sandbox too!

Fat people in cosplay. No RP is complete without one.

XD Slightly different role-playing we're talking about. We're trying to build something, not tramatize everyone~

Why not? My sole RPG experience was pretty tramatizing. It'd be ashame to not let everyone else experience the joy.
