Stickbug B1, Wednesday Morning

Jul 12, 2006 10:15

Tyler couldn't sleep after he got back from the campfire, and the hug from Draco hadn't really helped. He spent half the night working on a draft of a letter to River, as Dr. Pevensie had suggested. He frowned as he worked, not sure what he wanted to say about what had happened SundaySome of his letters were really angry. Some were so mushy he ( Read more... )

After returning from camping, Peter threw his gear into his alcove and looked around the wall into Tyler's. "Good morning," he said. "I've not seen you much since I got back."

"I've been kind of anti-social," Tyler said, with a half-smile. "So you're back and in one piece. Congratulations."

"Any reason or just feeling misanthropic?" he asked, smiling back. "And yes to both though either was a close race for a bit."

"A little of both," Tyler admitted. "Had a fight with River."

"What happened?"

River found the letter before anyone else did. She'd been up early and just got back from a walk. And yes, what to do about the argument with Tyler had been on her mind. Actually it had been on her mind since Sunday, but she had been uncertain how to proceed.

She did feel guilty about reading his mind that time in the gym. It wasn't fair. She wouldn't have liked it herself. The problem was it was so easy, and not doing it was more of an effort. And anger makes you do stupid things. She assumed Tyler thinking she was a freak was one of them, since he didn't usually think that.

The problem was more that she doubted herself and whether she was up do this being a girlfriend thing at all.

Still, she did miss Tyler. Quite a lot, actually. And after reading that letter she decided perhaps trying to talk would be a good thing.

She made her way to the Stickbug cabin and paced nervously outside for a minute before opening the door.

Tyler heard the noise of the door opening and went to see who was there. He ran his hands nervously through his hair when he saw River.

"Hey. So you came," he said, opening the door wider. "Living room's over there, I could make coffee or something..."

River made a very active attempt not to read his mind. It involved not even meeting his eyes. "Coffee, um, would be nice," she said. Accepting that offer seemed like a good thing to do.

"Right," Tyler said.

He went over to prepare two mugs, making an effort to keep his mind bare of all except the necessary thoughts. I am calm, I am peaceful, I am at home with the me.

He returned with the coffee and a handful of sugar packets. "I don't think there's milk," he said apologetically, as he took a seat on the couch.
