Title: Dipsophobia
Pairing: Cuddy/Cameron
Rating: R
Disclaimer: House, M.D. is not mine.
Cameron didn't drink. Not usually. When she did, she never had more than one glass.
Cameron had been drunk once, and it was enough. All she remembered from that night was the blurred floor of a dirty bathroom in a fast food restaurant and a man's dank hands pushing up her sweatshirt and vomiting endlessly into the toilet afterward.
She didn't do drugs, either. Not after she had pilfered Kalvin's stash from the lab and wound up in bed with Chase. Technically they hadn't even made it into bed.
So Cameron didn't drink and she didn't do drugs.
Whenever she was tempted to have a second glass, she remembered that awful fast food bathroom and realized she had too much to lose.
Not her job or reputation; they were safe, the first relying on the later relying on what House called her "brokenness." She didn't fully understand what House had meant, but she knew that it wasn't going anywhere.
If she ever had a second glass, Cameron knew she would wind up doing something really stupid, like confessing her feelings to Cuddy.
And as long as Cameron was perfectly sober she knew it was impossible for Cuddy to return her feelings.
