[RL with Zechs] Making a House a Home!

Nov 15, 2008 13:39

Tyki had made some preparations over the last few days and now he was glad he had. He had gone down to the city near the home they had purchased, and not only bought a set of clothes, but figured out what the local currency was like and obtained a large quantity of it from a bank a few cities over ( Read more... )

Zechs was wholly and utterly absorbed in the electronic conversation with Rufus - who was turning out to be his future employer. Part of him had inwardly jumped at the occasion to utilize his more usual skills once again. Yet another part of him cringed. He had no illusions about the sort of organization Rufus would run. He also knew the man was highly likely to get upon his nerves ( ... )

Tyki read through the conversation quickly and came to the same conclusion. "Ah yes, I see," he said. "Looks as though you made a decision without needing to talk to me about it, too," he added.

He didn't have a problem with that at all, and was only commenting on the fact.

He pressed a kiss to Zechs' cheek and slipped his arms around him from behind as he finished reading the conversation. "Honestly, that makes things a little easier for me. I wasn't sure if I could leave the Ark and live full time elsewhere. My fear would be that the Duke would be unable to find me and come looking for me."

Smiling, Zechs took that comment as it was intended. Really, after being prodded by Tyki into thinking about working on other worlds, accepting Rufus' offer was only logical. Especially considering his skills and aptitudes. He was being very honest when he told ShinRa's president that outsiders considered him to have few scruples. Zechs merely liked to think of himself as a man who could see a larger picture ( ... )

Tyki considered that with perhaps a bit more seriousness than Zechs might have expected. He rested his chin on the top of Zechs' chin, pondering this.

"I very much wish to live with you," he said. "And Gaia is a nice world. I considered purchasing a home there, actually, until I found the one in Switzerland."

He paused, then. "But I am in a delicate position with Rufus. I owe him some significant task, but I am not employed by him. If I lived there, I might find myself performing small tasks, simply because I happen to be there and available. Do you think that could pose a problem? That Rufus would deliberately manipulate the situation that way?"

He honestly wanted Zechs' input on that.

Zechs had barely considered such a situation, and thought now much more seriously, taking time with his answer. He wouldn't put it past Rufus to do such a thing, and now wondered if he intended it to be that way to begin with. For a moment, he wrestled with his distrust of Rufus, his desire for his lover to be near, and the realities of the situation ( ... )
