Spooky Felines

Augh. The night before last, a dream about my dead cat - that I had raised her from the dead with inappropriate bad-karma necromancy, for a briefly allotted time. In the dream, I alternated between cuddling her frantically and worrying about dispersing the gelatinous blood fetish-glob that was part of the spell. In the morning, I had the question: ( Read more... )

Fireball sounds amazing! My SO has a visitor cat, a big tuxedo/B. Kliban typed cat known as Bentley. It's very agreeable. Like Fireball, he is well-mannered.

Occasionally, out of the corner of my eye, I glimpse our cat. I know it's a trick of the light, but all it takes is a flash of cat-like movement to make me do a double-take.

Of course it's not her. She's been dead nearly two years. We don't even live in the same place where she did.

Seeing her has become a part of me, though, and it catches me at the strangest times.

I don't know why there isn't more horror fiction about dead pets. You'd think after Stephen King wrote some there'd be more.

I get the corner-of-the-eye cat glimpses at other people's houses. When that happens, and there is no cat, I tell them, "You need a cat. This house is supposed to have a cat!"

This morning, I glimpsed a cat out of the corner of my eye, and...it was another neighborhood cat.

Time to write your own kitty horror! There's too much focus on werewolves. Pet Cemetery is the main pet horror movie I know.

"The Hairball Came At Midnight"?
Lying in bed, she flinched. There it was...cutting through the night...the undeniable "horrrrk, horrrrk, horrrk..." She swam up from the depths of sleep. Would she be in time to avert the worst?"

Frankly, I'm just as glad that there isn't more. I was tormented by dreams about Fats for years after her death, dreams in which I realized I wasn't actually certain a cat of mine had ever really died but had simply never bothered to look for it, even though I was by her side when she was put to sleep.

I suspect your neighbor's cat is thinking of adding the newly vacated territory to his own. ;)

Yeah, they say that "your new cat will find you" but I don't think the neighbor's purebred is the ideal cat to find me.

Probably not, since he's already spoken for. It's just that he doesn't quite get that.

Seems my first comment got lost in the Livejournal jungle.
Anyway I said that when I walk down our stairs I sometimes think I see my cat curled up on the meditation mat. In fact it was my husbands grey patterned meditation pillow.
No cats for us, as it would not be fair with us so much away, but it always does bring a smile to my face when it happens.
