I've finally had the opportunity to read Part Two, and it is every bit as wonderful as the first. Watching the former Death Eater and the Know-It-All confront their own insecurities was particularly satisfying. I like the way you have presented their journey from "absolutely not" to "well I might-if you're sure you want to".
Severus' visit with Lucius was an eye-opener for each of them, I think. I can't quite figure out if Lucius was mostly tweaking Severus' nose and trying to make him see how silly he thought he was being, or if he really meant that wedding Hermione Granger would be something he would, himself, find attractive... never mind the positive aspects of improving his standing in Wizarding society. Regardless of why Lucius said the things he said, it gave Severus the chance to view Hermione's request in an entirely different light.
