I just texted
blue_eyed_miss about this but I just have to share this with the rest of you as well because it's just too hilarious.
If you remember
this post, you know that my home town has a really awesome Spanish bar, and J (the friend of mine who accompanied me to the Basque Country in September) and I went there tonight. Before you ask, no, the Spanish guys

I really understand your deep love for a nice, cuddly scarf, I have one as well. Really, I'd probably give away my coat before parting with that scarf my aunt knitted for me!
And you're lucky. Last footie/spain related incident I had was meeting Culés at the university's Mensa the Tuesday after El Clásico...

My grandma knits socks for me, so I understand perfectly that you wouldn't want to part with your home-knitted scarf. :D
Eeeek, that sounds like no fun at all. :/ *hugs* Culés can be a pain in the ass, can't they? What I've had to listen to after El Clásico in the past... *shakes head*

Yeah, especially over lunch. I had watched the game with my friend, who supported Barca and she said something about it and those 5 guys at the next table just interrupted and babbled about how Barca is so much better and that Madrid is a crap team and that our keeper sucks. I nearly, very nearly emptied my plate over one of the guy's head for saying SAINT IKER SUCKS!
Dude... really... that's a cardinal sin!!!

WHAT THE HELL? O_______O Fucking idiots. I would have been FUMING. But I guess it's just envy talking with those people, they wish they had such a brilliant keeper as Iker, and since they don't, they have to convince themselves that he's not that good, otherwise they can't get to sleep at night. ;)

I had a similar encounter with a Liverpool fan at university three years ago. He was wearing the Torres jersey and I pretty much screamed "OH MY GOD FERNANDO TORRES, WHAT A SIGNING, EH??" and we proceeded to have a lengthy conversation about the club. C:

one must really feel like a fish out of the water if you cling to that little piece of home away from home ie the scarf around your neck :p

That is EXACTLY what it's like!! It might sound strange because I've never lived there and I've only been there once, but it felt so much like home that I can't help surrounding myself with stuff that reminds me of it. Makes not being there easier to handle.
