discontent: the first step in the progress of a man or a nation...

Things that annoy me these days (in no particular order):
  • the snow. The weather doesn't seem to care much about the fact that winter is over. No, it brings us snow, storms and temperatures around -2°C with a dedication that is exemplary. I'm so fed up with it. When there's just a thin layer of snow on the streets, people suddenly forget everything ( Read more... )

Agreed so much. Winter is over, so the snow can go fuck off. It's not funny anymore.

I do it just like you, I stop reading a fic the moment I spot an idiotic nickname. It just ruins the fun for me, I can't help it. I mean, I can accept an otherwise well-written fic when the stupid nickname only appears in dialogue, but most of the time it appears in narrative, too, and that's just a no-go for me.

Thank you! I'm having lots of fun! :D

Well I guess I should apologise for my 'defriending angst'. Sorry for annoying you. Oh noes, more angst!! :P

Oh no, don't apologise! I wasn't specifically writing about you here and didn't mean to attack anyone personally. I just need to vent about things sometimes, it's quite therapeutic. ;)

They appear in match spams, too? *MAJOR HEADDESKING* I really wish people would stop doing that. Nicknames in match discussion is a no-go for me in the first place, but stupid ones like these? OH GOD, PLEASE NO.

But of course you do! And I hope you're not too mad at me for not having replied to all your comments and the PM you sent me. I feel like an utter prick for not thanking you for the awesome postcard. *hides* But I will make a post soon in which I thank everyone who sent me belated Christmas gifts and postcards. I've been meaning to do that since the new year started, but somehow I never found the time. I fail at life. Please don't hit me too hard?

I don't think you'll miss out on anything important if you pass on the pic fics. ;) I do like roleplaying, but the major requirement for a good RPG is good characterisation, and those pic fics lack that especially. I mean, if you gave those pic fic characters female names instead of footballers' names, the fics would be a lot more realistic. ;)

I haven't updated my fic archive in a while (*makes mental note*), but if you're looking for good fics, you're most welcome to check it out! :)

And hey, I didn't know anything about the Age of Sail or ships when I joined the PotC fandom, so if you ( ... )

I completely agree with you about picfics. I think they are really stupid and those nicknames make me rant. Is so fucking difficult to check what would be the nickname in Spanish? Because Iggy isn't Spanish I can tell you. Hell Sese makes me want to carve my eyes out with a spoon but well it'd make sense. I'd use Sergi or Chechu if I have to use a nickname (or you know make a completely different one. A nickname hasn't have to be related to the name) but Iggy? WTF?

About the friending/defriending. If you don't have anything in common why keep them? LJ friends aren't like Pokemon, you don't need to get them all. *rolls eyes*

*hugs* I'm glad your Spanish lessons are going well. I'll make you speak a little in Spanish when you arrive here :P

Sese sounds like you're talking to a 3-months-old baby. And those people write the word in porn and expect me not to cringe.

or you know make a completely different one. A nickname hasn't have to be related to the name
Exactly. They could just go and have their characters call each other "cabrón" all the time and everything would be fine. And a lot more realistic! XD

This just made me laugh out loud. XDDDD

But of course I will speak Spanish when I come visit! My dad doesn't speak English at all, so he'll speak Spanish with you, and Mum knows a bit of English but not that much. So we will have no other option! XDD I'm 100% certain I'll have to translate to them all the time, though. XD

True real life story. My nicknames for my brother are capullo or bicho depending on the moment. Actually I call bicho most of my friends one time or another XD.

:D I'm snarky lately :P

LOL You'll have to tell me when I'm using too much slang words. I don't speak proper Spanish 99% of the time xD. Translator!Bill FTW.

Hahaha, my brother and I call each other "arse". XDDD

¿Qué significan capullo y bicho? (Hee, I can say that already! *is very proud* XDDDDD)

I think that as long as I can ask you ¿qué significa? all the time, you can use all the slang words you want. XD
