dfb-cup: vfb stuttgart vs fc bayern münchen...

Jan 27, 2009 22:52

I just watched my first full Bayern match after several months of denial about this team's existence (you might know about this), and I must say I'm positively surprised and very content. On the last matchday of this season's first half, two injury time goals helped Stuttgart reach a draw against Bayern, so I had already prepared myself for a tough ( Read more... )

Congratulations. No, really, I mean that, and Bayern deserved to win. Not that it's hard to win against a bunch of hysterical chickens.

I will go now and bury myself in a hole.

*drags you out of that hole* That was not your team tonight, no need to feel bad. (The Kicker website hinted something about a village club pretending to be VfB Stuttgart - and I'm inclined to believe they're right.)

I hope you don't think I'm gloating. I'm just glad that the guys seem to have put their atrocious beginning of this season behind them now, those were horrible weeks for me.

You could've put a bunch of 12-year-olds on the pitch and they'd have more fighting spirit. Maybe they'd have worked a little harder without those first two goals coming so soon, the second goal may not have happened if we had Magnin (not that he's any better in general) and Cacau or Marica instead of Boka and Bastürk, but with a loss at that height, all what-ifs are pointless because the numbers speak so clearly.

Look, I don't even know what I'm thinking. But even if you were gloating, I'd deserve it because there has been enough gloating from my side in the past. I... I may not be happy about a fan of the team that just humiliated my club criticising the performance of players whom I value a lot (not Bastürk!), but that's a metaphorical stick I oughta pull out of my ass. I try to keep as much distance from that as possible.

Peace?

I was really scared before the kick-off because Stuttgart are no bad team. And I still believe they aren't. Somehow everything went wrong last night, and I'm sorry you had to see that. I agree, Boka and Bastürk weren't the best choices for the line-up, but I understand there weren't many possibilities.

And no, I'm not gloating. I'm criticising, yes, but I think it's deserved. I guess the best thing would be for you to forget about this game and look forward to the next one. :)

Peace? Has there been war? But anyway, yes, of course, peace! :)

Also, I sent you a text message a couple of weeks ago, I assume you didn't get it?

I so miss watching footie with you! Your commmentary is just what I would have written, if I had paid attention, if I had made notes, and if I had drinken less beer... *sigh*

I have to echo a couple of points, though:

Lehmann's behaviour is annoying. I've never been a huge Lehmann fan, but what he did today, the way he yelled at Donovan and the others is just awful. I can't help feeling some schadenfreude about the 5 goals he got.
I can only echo that. Kahn was no angel, and was aggressive, too... but something abot Lehman just feels different. He seems to really radiate HATE somehow, not just aggressiveness. I loved the way Klose ran to Donovan's rescue - there was a really sweet interview on FCB.de this week where Donovan said that Klose has really taken him under his wing.
Can I tell you how the bar where I watched exploded in cheers when FCB was awarded the penalty for Lehmann's foul - and again, when Schweini scored!

Shoot me for giggling like an idiot when Lanig gave him a little punch into his groin after his goal.oh boy, ( ... )

I only started making some notes towards the end, all my statistics come from the Kicker website this time, I'm afraid. I didn't even plan to write an entry, but then there were so many things on my mind that I decided to do it. :)

You're right, Kahn was no angel, but what Lehmann is doing is worse, I think. As you said, it's not just plain aggression and fighting spirit, it's hostility. As if Lehmann wants to scare everyone away from his goal. I'm glad he's not doing a good job at that. Yet, it's horrible to look at, and he's definitely not making me think that football is fun - which he should if he was a good player.

Aw, that is adorable! I really must pay closer attention to the website again, I know pretty much nothing about Donovan, except from when he was at Leverkusen. (And not even much about that period.)

You know ... it's almost comical. I decided to watch the match ~ at least I watched for the first 34 minutes or something. And I got bored enough to watch the minimal chance of the Handball boys reaching the semi finals pass away because that was a lot more interesting and exciting than ... yeah, somthing pretending to be football :/

Well, yeah, I must admit I had expected a closer, more exciting match, and before it started I would have betted that it was the most exciting tie out of them all, but then Stuttgart decided they weren't in the mood to play football. I for my part was glad to see some effective football from my team again after the horrible beginning of this season, but I suppose that fans of neither team weren't really that entertained by the match.

After what FCB fans singed to him...
I think I would be more aggressive on his place...

I don't have any problems with aggressiveness. You need a good dose of that if you want to survive in the football business. What I don't like, though, is hate and hostility. As I wrote above, Lehmann seemed to want to scare people away from his goal, and it didn't quite work out. That attitude destroys football for me. (But that's just my opinion.)

Oh... I just thought he was answering on what Donovan has said and by the way was angry with his defenders work... so, I don't wonder.

I'm not sure, Mario didn't look very pleased... unless that's part of the ritual, of course! XDDD
