There's a "Team of the Year" voting at uefa.com, and I couldn't resist, of course.

But before I present you my choices, I need to share this impressive list of achievements in 2008 that the website published about Iker:

Oh yes! With some positions, it was really difficult to choose. And I might have made some biased choices, too, but it doesn't matter how biased your choices are when you can justify them, and I can justify all of mine. :D

I'm wondering why you chose Terry. It might be unfair to judge him solely by that penalty he missed, but in my opinion, he lost the CL for Chelsea, and since he's captain, the responsibility weighs the heaviest on him. Also, I'm not sure why you picked Ballack (or why he's even a part of this poll), because his performance in the Euro left much to be desired - but maybe he was better at Chelsea, I don't know. Maybe you can explain? :)

I would not have chosen Schweini and Zlatan myself (not when there are so many other good players to choose from for those positions), but I can see very well why people choose them, and I think they deserve it too. Villa was my third choice - unfortunately, I couldn't pick three strikers, otherwise he'd definitely have been on my team.

By the way, Valencia's captain is Carlos

I can't justify mine. I just... did it. Cause I haven't watched football for so long I just went with my instincts, and I did it in a hurry anyway.

I chose JT cause idk, being a Chelsea fan you just trust him, no matter what they've done. He will always be THE ONE. And I idk who the other half of the nominees are.

idk why I went with Micha, I mean everyone else in there came out stronger than he did, except that I don't like Fabregas so he's out of the equation. I have no idea why it went to Micha in the end but, it just did.

I HAD to choose Schweini over Hamit (I'M SO SORRY). I just wanted to give him a vote, the votes would obviously go to CRon and Gerrard, no doubt. Just don't want him to end up with 0 votes...

I chose Villa cause he deserves it. I didn't choose Nando or Messi cause I don't like them. It is again, totally random how I chose Zaltan (I have NEVER seen him play), maybe I didn't want to make a choice (which is EXTREMELY hard). I just chose someone to fill in the gap.

I didn't make Iker captain, but that's mostly because I think that Stevie is the ideal captain. I do like goalie!captains a lot, and I believe Real wouldn't be in such deep shit at the moment if Iker captained them instead of Raúl. *waits to be punished for teh blasphemy*

1. blah, options. it's not fun if you can't actually pick.
2. it said a bucnh of nossesnse.
3. today i can't type right (in my deffense, i have a resason today. i'm not in my computere and clearly i got used to El pupi -my notebook-'s small keyboard and i do messes in big ones)

we're sorry for the inconvenience =P. this, thought, stays: Lio - that kid, man, I've said this before but that kid can win a match on his own. He's so different and unique, he should be included in everyone's best teams. I can't fangirl enough about Lio.

I do agree, though, Messi is absolutely excellent. In my opinion, he should have won the Ballon d'Or, he would have deserved it a lot more than CRon. Barça are damn lucky to have him.

Haha, I tried to be more or less unbiased, which explains the three Barça players, but I suppose I'm still biased enough for choosing so many Spaniards (and no ManU players *LOL*). Though, in my defense, the Spanish DID win the Euro. ;)

Silva would have made it into my team if Ribéry and Iniesta hadn't been in the same group. Same goes for Marcos Senna, who deserves a lot more votes than he'll get due to being in the same group with Xavi.

And I wish I could have picked three strikers, because then I so totally would have chosen Villa as well.

You rock for picking Marchena, by the way, he was my third choice for the defense centre. :)
