misheard lyrics...

May 02, 2008 16:37

Looking for the story of the song "99 Colours in Her Hair", I found a forum which deals with misheard lyrics, and I've been wasting my time there for half an hour already because it's so hilarious. There's a lot of McFly stuff in there, too, and even though it puzzles me how someone can misunderstand them, it's totally hilarious ( Read more... )

I wasn't too impressed with the "Blue" one because they only "misheard" the "da ba dee" part, and especially the "I believe I can fly" were a bit far-fetched, but OMG, "Amaranth". That is utterly brilliant. Nightwish's new singer has an even stronger accent than Tarja - I wouldn't have expected that. XDDD "Jesus, Snow-White, Zorro", AHAHAHAHAHAHA. XDD Thanks for showing me this one! :D

Now that you say it I hear that too!!!
I knoooow! Isn't it EVIL? I can't even concentrate on listening to it properly anymore!

But whenever I listen to that song now, I hear "I'm blue and I'm in need of a guy!" :D
I have a very strong feeling that this is what I'm going to hear in the future, too. XDDD

Amaranth is legend indeed! I can't stop watching it, it's too hilarious! XDD

No clue what they're saying for real! Danny says "Did you hear my voice?" or something like that, but I don't know what Dougie says before that. I tried to get people to tell me, but apparently, nobody knows. ;)

Omg, I love reading misheard lyrics of the McFly songs - can you link me to that forum?

All I know at the end of 5CIHH is that Danny says: Did you hear my voice? *dorky laugher from them all* I dunno what they said before Danny's part though and appaz the guys can't remember either! We just need someone with good hearing to listen to it, really. xD

I can't remember if I ever misheard them... but I always get my lrics mixed up when I'm singing along and sing the wrong parts, lol.

Unfortunately I don't have the link to the forum anymore - but it was a German forum anyway, and most people there seemed to be Busted fans. ;)

I understood the "Did you hear my voice?", but the bit before is a complete mystery to me. I assume it's Dougie talking there? There are several cases of me not understanding him, like on the "Wonderland" DVD, when Tom says that one day Dougie will shock everyone by saying something in an interview or on stage (or something like that), and then they cut to a shot of Dougie speaking to the crowd and I don't understand a word. Dear Mr Poynter, please, have mercy with those who don't speak English as their mother tongue! *flails*

I love mishearing stuff - but only when it makes things funnier. Once I understood "Norrington might not last" instead of "knowing it might not last" in a song. *LOL*

Haha, yeah, that's one of my favourites. Glad you enjoyed it! :D
If you're interested, kurdt105 linked to Amaranth, which I think is even more hilarious than "Wishmaster". XDD

*snicker* That was kind of my plan.

You know, whenever I listen to Rhapsody's "Power of the DragonFlame", I can't even REMEMBER (let alone understand) the proper lyrics anymore, all I hear is "the arm of the dragon is steaming and raging right there like MySpace". XDD It would be so unfair if I were the only one in misery here, wouldn't it? XDDDDD

Poland! XDDDD

Not so much 'misheard' as subconsciously mis-learned while not listening to the song (does that remotely make sense?)...

but for the longest time (until a year ago!) I thought that in the song 'Build Me Up Buttercup', the lyrics were not 'I'll be home, I'll be beside the phone waiting for you'...but 'I'll be home, I'll be inside your home waiting for you."

Then a friend helpfully pointed out that that might sound a bit stalker-ish.

Yeah, the Poland thing still makes me giggle like an idiot. XDD

does that remotely make sense?
I totally know what you mean. I did a lot of that (or something similar) before I started learning English - it was a bit embarrassing later, when I knew the meaning of the words. *LOL*

I'll be home, I'll be inside your home waiting for you.
XDDDDDDDDD And the new stalker anthem was born. *LOL* Awesome!!!
