Random thought:

All these "protesters" at Town Hall meetings showing up with cardboard pictures of President Obama depicted as a Nazi or as The Joker, or showing up with semi-automatic weapons - are they the same people who were burning Dixie Chicks CD's when they bad mouthed President George W, screaming about how the president is to be respected

My question is Is the Republican national committee paying for all this?

Ugh, it's entirely likely, isn't it?

Sorta related, I always thought it was so odd that people went that nuts over the Dixie chick thing. So many bands have said so much worse.

I think that backlash had a LOT to do with them being a "country" artist. Country artist are supposed to be ultra-patriotic.

Rock was/are the rebels.
Goth/Punk was/are anti-establishment

but country has usually been seen as American/Flag waving fanbase.

Yeah, I get that, it just always annoyed me cause as far as I was concerned, it was a pretty innocuous statement. I just hate that ultra patriotic 'you're with us, or you're against us' mentality.

Even worse than the Hitler comparisons, to me, is the way the people scream and yell over those who are trying to answer their questions and explain everything. They don't even have valid arguments or protests, justs houts of "we should all be afraid of Obama" and "OMG SOCIALISM." I loved the one who thought the government should stay out of Medicare. Jesus Christ, please would the ignoramuses just not yell quite so loudly ( ... )

The docs in my office had SO much fun with that one. *rollingeyes*

and you know 3/4 of these people have never been to a town hall meeting before and now it's all 'standing room only' at these things.

It's like what I said about many of the people who started driving around with those really annoying window flags after 9/11/01. It's one thing to be patriotic in practice, and another to jump on the bandwagon, tragedy or not.

I contended that for most of the people who suddenly and I think mindlessly put one in every damn vehicle window, the last time they'd actually voted was for the blue M&M.
