I just got an email containing an essay claiming that Obama is a "revolutionary", and that all revolutions (except the American Revolution) end in a regime that is just as bad, if not worse than the one it replaces. It then goes on to describe how the Obama Presidency will abuse the people who disagree with it.

In all revolutions, there are winners and losers, whether it be the American, French, or Russian revolutions or myriad other revolutions. This John Crighton seems to believe that of all revolutions, only the American Revolution led us from a repressive government into a freer one. But from who's point of view? Under English rule, the colonists had privileges, but so did those who lived here before them, albet to a smaller degree. But once the American Revolution installed the new government, widespread opression became a part of the government. Natives were slowly stripped of any privileges they once held, including the use of ancient tribal lands. So yes, maybe a few European settlers benefited from the revolution, but untold others suffered, just as White Russians, the French Aristocracy (and supporters), and those who went against the Cultural Revolution ( ... )

I get this kind of crapola sent to me all the time. Mostly I avoid reading this drivel, but lately I have started sending back links to articles I find on snopes.com debunking this sort of thing.
