Giles nodded, knowing in his heart that Jenny was right; the two of them moving to England was the right thing to do... for Buffy and Dawn, as a matter of fact. As much as Buffy had been leaning on him, Dawn had been doing the same to Jenny, almost half-expecting her to fill the maternal void left behind when Joyce died. Both Summers girls had to learn to lean on each other, rather than parental surrogates ( ... )

Jenny glanced up from folding one of her silk nighties, smirking at the look of bewilderment on her husband's face. "What happened?" she chuckled.

"I'm not entirely sure." He furrowed his brows, eyes searching the air in front of him. "Ehm... well, if I mentally re-trace my steps, it seems that Xander is already worrying about the wedding... something about his sex life... and then he described a few sexual fantasies involving you."

Jenny exhaled a silent laugh. "Really?" Then, curiosity got the better of her. "Were they any good?"

Rupert gave her a look. "You're wicked."

"I know," she sighed. After packing up the box of her lingerie, she noticed something missing on her left hand, and she looked around the bedroom. "Rupert..."

"Hmm?" He was crouched down again, labeling their boxes.

"Have you seen my wedding ring?"

"Of course dear, it's lovely."

She rolled her eyes. "No, I mean... have you seen it tonight? As in, would you happen to know where it went ( ... )

"Is something wrong?"

When they had disappeared into the back, she turned to Dawn, who was watching her expectantly with arms folded across her chest. "So... what's going on?"

"Junior, why don't you sit."

Worry crossed the girl's features, and she slowly sat down at the table without taking her eyes off Jenny. "What? Is someone dying? Someone's not gonna die again, right? Is it you? You can't die ( ... )

"I have to," Giles insisted, watching the myriad expressions crossing his Slayer's face.

"Uh-huh." Shocked, Buffy sat down on a pile of exercise mats, while he sat on the couch.

"You have to be strong. I'm, I'm trying to--"

"Trying to, to what?" she jumped up. "Desert me? Abandon me? Leave me all alone when I really need somebody?"

He closed his eyes a moment, trying to keep his composure. "I don't want to leave--"

"So don't. Please don't," she begged, sitting beside him on the couch. "I can't do this without you."

"You can," he told her, looking over at her. "That's why I'm going. As long as I stay, you'll always turn to me if something comes up that you feel you can't handle, and I'll step in, because..." he sighed, and glanced up at her again, voice dropping to a whisper. "Because I can't bear to see you suffer ( ... )
