Um, so this is gonna be a two parter. myonlylight May 28 2010, 03:55:15 UTC
You know, I pretty much wrote the feedback as you were posting, but every time I added something new, I realized I was pretty much saying the same things over and over again, and the things I was saying pretty much amounted to ‘awww’! So, the bulk of this is going to be a list of things that made me say ‘awww’ and grin like a fool. Or just little things that are noteworthy. Like ( ... )

Part Two myonlylight May 28 2010, 03:55:39 UTC
Buffy’s speech was… very Buffy. She only sort of hints at the slightly rocky start her relationship with Jenny was, without ever coming out and admitting that she was very much acting like the daughter with Daddy’s new girlfriend. Which I thought was something Buffy would absolutely do. I also love that the speech was just the tiniest bit awkward. Buffy is great at the whole pre-apocalypse I’m-the-Slayer-and-this-is-no-big-deal kind of speech, so this happy times wedding thing is a bit out of her league. So, awkward but heartfelt, mostly focused on Giles, and very in character. Nice.

Xander’s speech. Oh my god! That boy! I love how he starts a little bumbling, and Buffy makes a not-quite-snotty comment, and he proceeds to completely upstage her speech. My favorite part? "For awhile, I thought you both might've been a little crazy." Shaking his head then, he looked down into his glass. "But then, somewhere along the line, maybe when you guys got engaged, it kinda hit me: that's love. That's what marriage is supposed to be about. Two ( ... )

Which I thought was something Buffy would absolutely do. Hehe! I had to allude to that at least a little bit, because who could forget the infamous Buffy-hates-Jenny section of season two? LOL. And, I must admit, the awkwardness of the speech was inadvertent. Xander's speech came to me so easily, but I just had no clue what to do with Buffy. I actually wrote out her speech 3 times, and erased it and started over just as many. SO, the final product was essentially me saying, "OMG I GIVE UP. MOVING ON."

And it made me realize, I really, really hope that by the time season six rolls around, he remembers this speech, and that this couple has so much more of an impact on him than his parents, and acts accordingly. While I haven't completely decided what I'm going to do with Xander/Anya when Hell's Bells rolls around, I do know that Xander ( ... )

So, I am going to attempt to respond to all this, but I feel I will fall far short of what you guys deserve. LOL.

I knew the lot of you were excited, as was I, but I had no idea it'd get this kind of a response. Like, wow.

Okay, first: I kind of had a ridiculously fun time writing this one. The Giles/Jenny stuff kinda goes without saying, but I especially had fun writing all of the little side interactions. Anything with Anya in particular, since she's the best Scoob.

Sometimes Giles tends to forget that even though Xander’s a big dork, he’s got some depth. Heeee! I must admit, I am guilty of that, too. Xander was always such a great comic relief, I occasionally forget that he's actually got quite a bit of depth, and he can really come through for people when they need him, particularly Buffy and Willow. And, I always loved his relationship with Giles. While Giles was a willing father figure for Buffy, I feel he was always more of a beleaguered/reluctant father figure for Xander, hahaha.

Jenny admitting she likes Anya. Dunno why ( ... )

OK. Prepare yourself for an ESSAY of squee. :D:D:D

Firstly, the Scoobies. Can they BE any cuter??
Best Buffy bits: saying she wanted a 'brother or sister', and his descriptions of what their kids would be like: LOL :D Her speech was very cute (although she did get upstaged by Xander) and very much something a daughter would say, which I loved :D "I couldn't hear you over the sound of being right." Teasing Giles with thr wedding video! <3 'Don't make me cry more!' So cute! :D

Oh, ANYA. Can my love for you grow any more? Why yes, yes it can. I absolutely loved her just saying she was taking the cookies with her, and Giles not even bothering to argue :D
"NO BUNNIES!! Or... y'know, whatever, it's your wedding, do what you want" LOL!!
And the AWESOMELY SUPREMELY CUTE moment when she hugged him the restaurant, immediately followed by "I guess this means it will now be inappropriate for me to continue having sexual fantasies about you?"...I literally adore her :D:D:D ( ... )

Heeeee! Thank you so so much!! I'm really glad all you guys enjoyed this, because it was a blast for me to write. I even found myself writing extra little sections at work, and then hurriedly signing on to get them posted! Hehe ( ... )

Oh my LORD!!

I don't think words can even express how I feel about this chapter.
It was just GLORIOUS!
I'm still basking, and plan on continuing to do so until the end of time, really.
Perhaps I'll just make some jot notes about the especially splendiforous (which, really, should include EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE, but I haven't the time)

- Giles being anxious about what comes after the wedding and Buffy loving the mini-Giles idea.
- Yes. Buffy. I've forgotten how much Buffy has begun to sound like a tall, dashing Englishman these days.
- talking about a video montage with baby pictures, but then reassuring me that it was on the NO WAY list. I was a little scared for a moment.
- NO BUNNIES!
- Why on Earth would you wish to set fire to our entire music collection?
- a teasing contest between the two. I cannot even begin to fathom who would win in THAT contest.
- Xander 'encouraging' Giles.
- Vows...woops! forgot them. :P
- "You're not writing humorous vows, are you?" He tilted his head. "Darling, you know I'm unable to be intentionally ( ... )

First of all: HEEEEEEEEE THAT IS THE CUTEST SEAL EVER. Love it!!

Second: Thank you SO much, my dear, for all your kind words! Truly, they're an inspiration. This was such a labor of love, writing out this chapter; and I really wrote the whole thing with you guys in mind, so it warms my heart to hear that you enjoyed it so much.

Plus, I got to bring in SO many elements of what I love about writing in this fandom: Xander's hilarity balancing out with his occasional moments of depth and wisdom, CORDY and her unapologetic brashness, Anya's bluntness (and secret love for Giles), the Giles/Jenny banter, Angel and his epic connection with Jenny, the adorable Buffy/Giles father/daughter moments, and oh yeah... I GOT TO WRITE A LOVE SCENE AGAIN. Bwahahahaha. Be honest -- that was the part you were really waiting for, right? Who cares about the wedding? ;) LOL. I'm surprised I lasted that long without writing some G/J smut, seriously. Those were some tough times ( ... )

lol, yeah, my friend and I have taken to giving things the 'Seal of Approval' and making that face whenever we like something, and if anything deserved it, this does!

Be honest -- that was the part you were really waiting for, right? heehee, yeah... But no, I was waiting for EVERYTHING in this chapter, and you brought it all to me!

I'm doubtful that anything will be able to deter me from this. ever. I'm certain you will MORE than deliver what I'm sure will be a FANTASTIC season five.
You continue to outdo yourself, honey.

Sidebar: I'm enjoying the new layout. It threw me for a moment, because I was on someone else's computer when I first saw it, but I like it.

Awwww! Well thank you SO much! I really appreciate that. Gotta admit, season five's gonna be pretty daunting (there's a LOT of ground to cover), but your encouraging words are helpful. :)

Glad you like the new layout, too!! It took quite a bit of tweaking to get it how I wanted it, but I'm enjoying it. Figured it was time for a change, since I'd had the other one for over a year. Now I just gotta muster the energy to make new headers, lol :D

MY TURN.

Also. I know you know. But just for the sake of it, I'm formerly RepoTechnoPagan. Name change, yay.

Alright. As of right now, I'm rereading this chapter while writing this feedback. I have it tiled like a pro on my desktop.

Lets see how this goes. I refuse to apologize if it gets lengthy...

THEY'RE MARRIED. OMFG. MARRIED. MR AND MRS GILES. HEEEEEEEEEE.

Pre-wedding ThingsILoved
-Buffy - The whole.. daughter thing. It was mentioned on more than one occasion in this chapter. In the beginning when she was talking about BabyGilesandJenny's running around the house with tweed suits and mini wants. LOL. IMAGE MADE OF WIN. Can anyone draw here? God. Someone please draw Toddler forms of Giles and Jenny now.
"Daddy might take my toys away. Gotta go." ♥
Then.. when they went to the hotel and the clerk said "Your daughter dropped off your bags" It made my heart flutter a bit. I ♥ Giles father-form to Buffy so much.

Xander - Please dont make him stop with the flirty comments. Its so adorable and fun to read. Also - "Oh. Cool ( ... )

Giles/Jenny
OMFGLAKSJDFAOIWURALKDJ;LKSJFAOIJ!11!!!!!! ♥ ♥ ♥

Got that out of my system. I apologize if this next part is kind of jumpy. Theres just so much I can say about them.
EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM WAS SO FREAKIN' PERFECT. SERIOUS.

The kiss at the restaurant was sexy beyond words. Sexy and anticipating and... I can't think of any more words to describe it.

The vows? LOVELOVELOVE. SO MUCH. Especially Giles and his subtle hints of their 'battles' and what they went through/will go through. And then, Jenny's with her "I had been taught never to grow attached to things or people" I love how both of them basically changed each others destinies.

She grinned. "Don't wanna use my spiffy computer?"

He rolled his eyes. "It's smelly."

She rolled her eyes right back and echoed, "Computers don't smell, Rupert."

Jenny watched then as he smiled down at his pad of paper and began to write, murmuring, "I know."SO MUCH WONDERFUL FEELINGS OF NOSTALGIA WHILE READING THAT PART. I LOVE IRYJ ( ... )

EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM WAS SO FREAKIN' PERFECT. SERIOUS. Awwww! Thank you thank you thank you!! As much as I loved writing all the Scooby stuff/side interactions, I had even more fun writing these two crazy kids. For obvious reasons, LOL.

SO MUCH WONDERFUL FEELINGS OF NOSTALGIA WHILE READING THAT PART. I LOVE IRYJ. OMG I THINK YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT GOT MY IRYJ REFERENCE! YAY YOU. I threw that in there for a very specific reason, lol, so I'm happy at least one person picked up on it. :D

Also, I can picture the frantic loss-for-words look on Rupert's face and then the pop of the wine bottle startling him. That made me giggle too. Hehehehe, thank you! Glad you liked that. I must admit, I do enjoy the occasional crutch that is slapstick comedy. ;)

The serenading? The five star hotel? The CD? (Thats a huge step for techno-phobic Giles.) The trip to ATHENS? I was SO excited to reveal all those surprises!! I'd had the serenade/hotel thing planned out for a long time, and the Athens thing was a last-minute toss-in, so I'm glad that went ( ... )

Name changes, YAY! (Also, when you first mentioned wanting to do a name change, I totally checked to see if that one was free, because I knew it was what you were going for, hehe!)

THEY'RE MARRIED. OMFG. MARRIED. MR AND MRS GILES. HEEEEEEEEEE. I KNOW. OMG. I was bouncing around like an idiot just at the prospect of getting them married. Gah. Plus? SUCH A DAMN GOLD MINE NOW THAT THEY'RE MARRIED, I CAN'T WAIT. Now I get to get into all that first-year-of-marriage stuff, with them having to adjust to the change :D

I ♥ Giles father-form to Buffy so much. Heeee! Me too! And I wanted to give them plenty of dad/daughter moments, because they are oh-so-lovely ( ... )

I’m gonna condense what I love into a nice list, alright? Otherwise, I might be here forever. Just know that if I included every little detail that I loved (pretty much the entire thing), it would be even longer and might make me seem a little insane.

- So cute that Buffy would consider any of their kids her siblings. Aww.
- "What was that you were saying, Giles, about the non-freakouts? I couldn't hear you over the sound of being right."
- the list of cliché events that won’t appear at the reception. And Anya’s little outburst . . . I just love Anya and her irrational fear of bunnies.
- "Why on Earth would you wish to set fire to our entire music collection?"
- Does anyone remember that they have to speak at the reception or at the wedding? Buffy and Xander forget their speeches, and Giles and Jenny forget their vows.
- when Giles and Jenny have the “the smell/computers don’t smell, Rupert” conversation. It made me go all squealy.
- Xander’s fail attempt at being a best man.
- 'Rupert, the first time we met, I knew I would ( ... )

Thank you SO much!! I'm so happy you enjoyed this chapter, because it was quite the labor of love -- both writing it and just leading up to it, lol. Now, to respond to some of your comments:

I just love Anya and her irrational fear of bunnies. Hehehehe! I love that about her SO much -- she's this tough, brash, former demon... who's afraid of bunnies. Somehow, it's oddly befitting. :D

- when Giles and Jenny have the “the smell/computers don’t smell, Rupert” conversation. It made me go all squealy. OMG YOU got the reference too! Heeee. That makes me happy. I absolutely had to pay homage to 'their roots,' so to speak -- especially since that 'computers don't smell'/'I know' thing was the conversation that got me hooked on these two in the first place. :D

- Jenny likes Anya. That’s so sweet. I’m glad that she does, because the rest of the Scooby Gang seems just to tolerate her because of Xander. I always felt so bad for that specific reason -- nobody on Scooby Squad seemed to genuinely like her for who she was. (Even though I maintain ( ... )
