Wangoballwimme?
Chapter 1
‘Sorry?’ said Cho.
‘D’you - d’you want to go to the ball with me?’ said Harry.
‘Oh!’ said Cho, and her face broke into a warm smile, ‘I’d love to.’
‘Really? That - that’s great!’ Harry felt a wave of relief and joy wash over him, and his face broke into a broad grin.
‘I can’t wait. I’ll see you then. Bye.’ And with that Cho returned to her friends, who fell into a hushed conversation, and then broke into fits of giggles once again.
Harry’s heart swelled, and he practically skipped down to lunch.

‘She said yes!?’ Ron looked stunned when Harry told him the news.
‘Oh don’t sound so surprised Ronald!’ Hermione said, a grin on her face, ‘he is a triwizard champion, and not to hard on the eyes either.’ She added with a smirk.
‘Well, I guess I’m the only one without a date for the ball then!’ Ron snapped with a sideways glare at Hermione, ‘who are you going with anyway?’
‘I’m still not telling you. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to the library.’
‘Women...’
Harry said nothing, his eyes wandering over to the Ravenclaw table, and resting upon Cho as she chatted animatedly with her friends. She looked across at where Harry was sitting, and gave him a warm smile, which he immediately reciprocated. God, I haven’t smiled this much since... well, ever really. He turned back to his food, paying no attention to Ron, now grumbling into his pumpkin juice, and his eyes caught Cedric Diggory looking thoroughly miserable, toying with his food. Harry frowned slightly, which was noticed by Ron.
‘What’s up?’
‘What? Oh, nothing, just... Diggory looks pretty unhappy today.’
‘Ha, probably jealous ‘cause you’re going to the ball with Cho.’
‘Yeah, probably.’ Harry grinned yet again, and he worried no more about Cedric Diggory.

Harry spent the next few days in a daze of happiness. He hardly heard a word any of his teachers said to him, and he was impervious to Ron’s bad mood. He only saw Cho occasionally in the corridors, when they would both smile at each other, and be on their way. He hadn’t thought any more about Cedric until three days later.
‘Harry!’ Cedric shouted across the entrance hall that morning.
‘Cedric.’ Harry replied.
‘Urm... listen... I - I need to talk to you.’ He didn’t look Harry in the eye. Which is odd. Also, colour was rising in his cheeks. Why is he blushing?
‘Sure. Go ahead.’
‘Urm... could we maybe... go somewhere more private?’ Wow, he was really blushing now.
‘Urm... okay.’ This is very weird. ‘I’ll catch up with you two later.’ He yelled to Ron and Hermione, who appeared not to hear him. Probably arguing about Hermione’s mystery date again.
Cedric led him down the corridor, and into an empty classroom. By now, he was blushing furiously.
‘So, Harry... I - I was wondering if... urm...’ Cedric still avoided Harry’s eyes, and fiddled with his Prefect badge, ‘wondering if... maybe, you - you wanted to, urm... go to the ball with me?’
I’m sorry, what!? I must have misheard that. He didn’t just... He can’t have... Oh God... he did, didn’t he? ‘Urm... Cedric... I - I’m flattered... really, but... urm... no.’ Oh God, this is even worse than asking Cho, or turning down those girls that asked me.
Cedric was now looking determinedly at the floor. ‘God. I - I’m so sorry... I’m such an idiot.’ And he turned and left.
‘I’m sorry.’ Harry muttered, long after Cedric was gone.
Well, that was unexpected.
