Please correct me if i'm wrong but I thought being drunk in public was already an offence?

And just because we haven't banned everything else, is no reason at all to not ban smoking. You gotta start somewhere ;)

Lots of smokers have quoted the tax revenue figures. They all give different figures, and all assume everyone's going to give up overnight. The money people don't spend on fags will go on other things and the government will scoop up the VAT on that instead. And in any case, money is no reason to ignore public health. If we all have to muck in to compensate for any lost revenue, so be it. I'd rather be less well off than dying of lung cancer. And finally, it's the smokers who quit that will benefit most because they'll be rolling in a collective mountain of several billion pounds.

You should be happy that everyone in the UK has been granted a new freedom - that of being able to breathe clean air in pubs and clubs.

yes, let's not forget about the tons of cologne and perfume people wear... The smell of hairspray that people tend to drench their hair in... UM.. Body odor after dancing on a sweaty dance floor for hours on end in a crowd.... Smoke machines.... The acrid smells of various mixed drinks, whiskies, and ale/lagers.... The rancid smell of vomit from one who has consumed too much of one of the pervciously mentioned alcoholic beverages...

And then, after it's all said and done... One gets to walk outside in to the fresh, toxic exhaust-ridden air of the night...

Clean air... BAH
