Oh wow.

This morning I went in for an ultrasound. I have been having lots of cramping that just didn't remember having with my first pregnancy. I called my doctor's office last week to see if I could get into an early appointment (my first prenatal appt wasn't scheduled until September 21st), and they suggested I schedule an appointment at the hospital ( Read more... )

Wow. That is something! I feared twins because Ken has little brothers who are twins (I forget how the heredity works with twins so it may have been an unfounded fear). On the plus side, with twins you get two babies with only one pregnancy to go through! How is Andy taking it?

Still, congrats are in order, you will be a great mom to all three. If anyone can do it, you can!

I know I learned about the hereditary aspect of twins in my child development classes, but I certainly can't remember it now. All I know is I completely wasn't expecting it- though Andy's grandfather on his father's side was a twin.

Andy and I are both really, really... scared. Andy almost threw up! Hahahaha! I'm excited, but terrified. I'm scared of being forced to have a c-section if both babies aren't head-down and I'm worried about breastfeeding (though I know I'm stubborn enough to make it work!).

Thanks, though, for the congrats and well-wishes. I know we'll figure it out and it'll be great. It's just going to take some time to get used to the idea!!

If anyone can breastfeed twins, it's definitely you! I can only imagine how scary this must be but I know you guys will find a way to work it out.

Does Noah understand?

Nah. He's really excited about the u/s picture, though. He keeps grabbing it and saying, "Baby picture!"

I don't know if he'll be old enough even by the time the babies are born to understand what's going on. He'll be a little over 2 and a half.

Thanks for the support - I'll make it work. I'm about to go apply for a mentor over in adopt_a_mom, which I think is funny since I *am* a mentor! Hahaha :)

A little more scared than excited at this point, but I know that will wear off ;)

Yeah, I'm sure I'd be scared to death too! Twins is one of my biggest fears, actually. I had a really rough time with just one baby... I cannot imagine two!

Holy hannah!

Congratulations, mama. You will be OK... just keep breathing and eat, eat, eat your protein.

When the psychic dust has settled, I'll chat you up about nutrition needs from growing twins.

blessings....

Thank you - I'd appreciate that! I'm terrified but I just need to educate myself and surround myself with moms who have been experienced with breastfeeding in this area (and a doctor who will vaginally deliver twins - even if one is breech).

Holy smokes! Congrats!

I know that you really didn't want Noah to wean during this pregnancy but maybe it won't be SOO bad after all, if he does.

You better get started on that cloth dipe stash. You'll need twice as many!!
