I've actually raised that issue with the gentoo devs, because I think it would be nice to install the possible stuff as well. They have a reason I didn't quite understand as to why they think this way is better.

Unfortunately, the portage code is a complete fucking mess, and the people who work on it suggested that I don't really want to look and be scarred.
