Do You Want To Know A Secret? Two of Us Fic Challenge 2007 is here!
Sign-ups are now open for this year's Two of Us Fic Challenge. Come join the fun! This is the second year of the challenge, which was inspired by Two Lines, and atomic_fiction - of course, for our purposes, we use Beatles lyrics!
As the name of the challenge suggests, the main focus of your story should be on the relationship between two characters; who those characters are and how that relationship unfolds, develops or resolves is up to you, the writer. Please remember that many Beatles lyrics are abstract, obscure, and often downright silly - so let your imagination stretch with the lyric.
Your story should not be a songfic, and should be inspired solely on the lyrics you receive. Whether you want to listen to the rest of the song or album is up to you, but please keep the lyrics snippet firmly in mind as your starting point. If you try your best but find that you absolutely cannot make your lyrics work for you, you may exchange them once for an alternate snippet.
Stories should be at least 500 words long (no upper limit!), and all fandoms are welcome. Het, slash, gen, FPF, RPF, crossover, AU - we love them all!
This year we will be observing John Lennon's birthday, October 9th as our final posting date, as we did with Paul's last year. Sign-ups are open now through the 18th of August, and lyrics will go out by the 23rd.
Want a Ticket to Ride? Here's what you need to do:
1) Join this community, if you haven't yet done so. This will allow you to post your fic here when the time comes.
2) Comment to the sign-up entry, giving the (valid) email address where you would like to receive your challenge lyrics. You can include what fandom or pairing you plan to write, or you can wait and let the lyrics tell you who they're about - it's up to you.
3) Check your email on August 23rd to receive your challenge lyrics!
4) Write your fic, and have it beta'd (a beta is optional, but highly recommended). See note above regarding alternate lyrics, if needed.
5) Post your fic here in this community (http://www.livejournal.com/community/two_of_us_fic) between October 4th and 9th!
When posting, please use standard headers and an LJ-cut, as shown below.

Rating: There are several sets of ratings floating around, including standard film and video game ratings. You're welcome to use whichever set you prefer, but please be clear as to whether or not your story is sexually explicit.

Warnings: You're welcome to warn for anything you feel necessary, but please be especially sure to include a warning if your story involves character death, self-harm, non-consensual sex, incest, underage sex, or BDSM.
Disclaimer: Please include this, unless your story is original fic (non-fandom). We all need to cover our...assets.
A/N or Summary: Be as descriptive or as vague as you please, but a well-phrased Author's Note can be a great enticement to readers. Also, this is a good place to thank your beta.
