Barbeque and Anime Night Tomorrow

Jul 07, 2005 20:54

I'm sure you've all noticed that very little makes me happier in this life than gatherings of my friends. So, you're all invited over tomorrow night for a barbeque and then anime night. You can thank John for inspiring me with his never-having-seen-anime-ness.

Recommendations for the menu and the anime are quite welcome.

It's a...

It's a genre of story, told in moving pictures.

Yes, yes it does. It's very overwhelming sometimes.

I can bring the bread I've been baking. If you like.

I claim bringing stir-fry...everything.

...and I like anime. Or used too. Then it got dubbed. Get the subtitled ones.

Stir-fry everything? Wow. That'll be interesting.

I have some of each. I'm sure we can find things to agree on...

Hmm. Orange-glazed salmon? I - can't eat it, but - people seemed to like it when I fixed it. And I can bring salad and veggies from my gardens.

...What kind of anime?

I'm all for it, but the series/movie we watch plays a great role in the atmosphere. Let's just say a lot of people count Evangelion as a company-friendly anime, while it really isn't. :X

I'm thinking Cowboy Bebop, early Trigun, Nadesico...

Hmmm... All good choices, even if I prefer the later Trigun episodes to earlier ones.

The only popular thing I could also recommend is Slayers - that one is usually a good thing to watch in a group.

I haven't seen that yet.

I dislike the last few episodes of Trigun because, well...sadness.
