ugh. ferrets.. if you're gonna get one - you need 2. otherwise they go neurotic and stuff. They need constant entertainment or they run around making messes, tearing up carpet, pooping in corners, getting into things/holes they shouldn't be in, and otherwise being rascals. although they are relatively cute - they're just not cuddly. or very soft. even if you do take good care of them.
I know all this because my sister had ferrets. I had to watch them a majority of the time because my sister enjoyed going out of town on the weekends and otherwise ignored her pets (including 3 cats) the rest of the week. She finally decided that ferrets required too much upkeep and gave them back to the rescue people.

In either case, I seriously doubt I'm going to get a ferret. My Dad is *ahem* extremely prejudiced against the rodent population in general. xD
