I Made a Promise

Summary: Following through on a promise Xander makes a delivery.

Timeline/Setting: For Buffy season seven never happened in this AU and this occurs a couple years after season six happened and this is occurring a couple of months after the end of the Avengers movie.
Author's notes(if any): It’s fanfic…. Cue hand waving for ages and dates of characters.
Clint watched the young man as he walked up carrying a box. The battle hadn’t been huge, but it had been annoying with someone looking to carry on Justin Hammer’s quest to take down Tony Stark. After subduing the Hammer wanna be Clint had gotten an ice cream cone from a street vendor and reclaimed a high perch sitting on a SHEILD van. The young dark haired man was slowly approaching carrying a plastic box. Seeing him get stopped at the barrier set up by the police Clint slid down the van wall to join them.
“What’s going on?” Agent Barton asked the Officer who had stopped the man.
“I made a promise that if Captain America ever was found I would deliver this to him. Since this is the only way I know how to find him I brought this to a fight. It was in cardboard but Willow said I should put it in plastic because the cardboard was falling apart.” The young man hurriedly explained.
“What’s in it and who did you make your promise to?” Clint asked.
“My grandma made me promise and it looks like a bunch of letters and newspaper articles.” The guy answered.
“I can deliver it to him. Thanks.” Clint offered reaching for the box.
“I’m supposed to tell him a message too.”
Clint sighed, “You’re not going to tell it me so I can pass it on.” He turned and hollered, “Captain! Someone to see you.”
They watched Captain America jog close. “Hawkeye.”
“He’s got a box and a message for you.” Clint explained stepping over to let Cap stand in front of the guy.
“Can I help you?” Steve asked reaching up to tuck his shield behind him.
“My Grandma made me promise to get this box to you somehow if you ever showed up and to tell you she didn’t like being a compass girl for everyone to see. Compass girls are supposed to be private.” The man said handing over the box to Steve.
As Steve’s eyes grew in shock and he reached out to grab the man’s coat sleeve Clint whistled and thought today’s really getting interesting.
