Willow shrugged her bag back onto her shoulder, trying to avoid making contact with the Londoners who flooded past her. She felt a fissure go up her spine. Internally she sighed, every time she was alone something happened. I can’t blame it on Spike when he’s all the way in D.C. Must just be my really bad luck.

She reached into her bag for a small crystal. Her senses screeched that something big was incoming.

She looked around, nothing else seemed off. The people continued on their way. They were not running. The hum of traffic was not punctuated by screams.

Willow focused on the abrupt hole in the field of magic. She passed one alley, then another, the third one she stopped. The alley looked empty. But there was something there… something powerful.

“Reveal,” she said motioning with her right hand. But the alley stayed empty. Nothing and no one.

She kept walking but halfway down stopped. Her body thrummed with power, it was so close. She turned in a circle all she saw was empty alley.

She closed her eyes and centered herself. Her right hand came up and she reached for the source of energy. It was somewhere in front of her. She kept her eyes closed - knowing they could not be trusted. Sight was easy to deceive.

She leaned forward her breathing coming faster as she felt a spark hit her fingertips then a hard surface. She pressed the palm of her hand against it, feeling the smooth grain.

Willow opened her eyes and stared at the large blue police box that had appeared out of nowhere. Keeping her hand in place she studied the alley again. There was nothing else playing with her senses. She closed her eyes and stepped back, removing her hand.

Opening her eyes she looked straight ahead where she knew the box should be but she wanted to look away to focus somewhere else. Her head started to hurt. She closed her eyes again and stepped forward until she touched the box. She pressed her ear against it. Silent. But the box felt warm and… safe. She frowned at the box.

“What are you?” she asked it.

A pulse beat from the blue box. Calm and soothing.

She jumped when her phone rang. She grabbed it, stepping away and trying to seem natural. “Hello?”

“Willow,” it was Dawn’s voice. “I was hoping you could point me in the direction of a Watcher’s diary.”

Willow stepped back and walked back down the alley. Something big isn’t always something bad, she reminded herself. And she honestly felt nothing evil about it, just disturbing for its lack of magic.

“Which Slayer are you looking for?”

Willow was suddenly distracted as a man ran down the alley. He paused a moment and looked at her. He smiled and straightened his bowtie. He then looked behind them. “Come along, Pond!”

“I’m comin’!” a redhead came running up. “Keep your bowtie on.”

They continued onto the street and into the mass of people. Willow looked back at the alley, no police box in sight.

“Willow!?” Dawn shouted.

“Yeah, sorry,” she focused the phone. “I believe it’s in the Russian section.”
