Author's notes(if any): not really. This was originally part of a story I had a start for but no middle and end.

“Hold on a minute Sandburg. There’s someone upstairs.” Jim said setting his hand on Blair’s shoulder as he stepped in front of him on the stairs.

“Can you tell who it is?” Blair asked taking Jim’s bag of groceries to free up both of his hands.

“They’ve got a laptop and they’re asleep.” Jim quietly took the last half of the stairs as Blair slowly followed. He didn’t waste time or energy telling Blair to stay below, he had given up that battle and saved it for times when he really meant it.

A woman who looked to be in her early twenties sat on the floor across from the door to the loft, asleep with a open laptop. “Hey you there with the laptop. What are you doing?”

“Researching. I’m looking for a Blair Sandburg but the mailbox says Ellison so I’m hoping Ellison might know where Blair Sandburg moved to or has some way of contacting them.”

“I’m Ellison. What do you want with Sandburg and who are you?” Jim asked glad that Blair was staying out of sight.

“A paper written by Blair Sandburg describes what a friend of mine is experiencing and after a lot of digging I ran across their paper and it’s the closest I’ve gotten and I’ve been able to find one of their sources and I’m hoping Blair will be able to help. I don’t know if Blair is a guy or gal. We were walking home after dinner four days ago and my friend complained of a really stinky smell right before she kinda went blank. Since then everything is too loud, too bright, too itchy, the only clothes she can stand to wear are Xander’s oldest and softest pajamas. And the only thing she’s eaten is oatmeal, just oatmeal nothing mixed in with it. This paper is the only information I have and I came looking for Sandburg in hopes they could help us out. Did I answer all your questions?”

“So far all but one. Who are you?” Jim demanded knowing that Blair would be jumping at the thought of a sentinel.

“Willow Rosenburg. Dawn’s like a little sister, friend to me. Do you know how to contact Blair Sandburg?”

“If you find Blair what do you want them do to?” Jim asked not sure what to think about someone showing up at their door with a possible sentinel and not much information.

“Point me in the direction of where they got their information?” Willow said looking up over her laptop.

“What if he had personal experience or knew someone who experienced those symptoms?” Jim asked as Blair took a step closer.

“How can we muffle the world? What can she do to make it better? Dim the brightness and smell?” Anything else Willow was going to get asked got cut off when her phone rang.

“Xander?”

“Nothing’s really changed from earlier. But Faith is able to sit next to her and talk in a normal voice. Faith’s the only person who Dawn can stand to let near her and she ate a piece of plain old seasoning free chicken when Faith was next to her.”

“That’s something. Does Faith mind staying with Dawn?”

“Nah. She says D’s pretty cool. How’s your researching going? Are you still at the library? Do you want me to bring you something for dinner?”

“Umm. I’m not at the library anymore. I’m looking up some information. Bye Xander.” Willow said as she ended the phone call.

“It sounds like Dawn’s a Sentinel and Faith is her Guide. Blair come one up here. Willow meet Blair the writer of that paper.” Jim said as Blair stepped onto the landing with Willow and Jim.

“Hi Blair. I’m Willow. Can you help Dawn?”
