Author's notes(if any): this follows August tenth’s entry.
Sherlock followed Mycroft as he walked into the large estate. Mycroft nodded to individuals who appeared to be non-uniformed staff with more familiarity then he usually showed to household staff. As Mycroft’s stride slowed when he entered a wood shop and maintenance area Sherlock looked around. This must be the workshop of the craftsman who would be constructing the cabinetry and woodworking that will be installed during the remodeling of Mycroft’s new flat.
Ahhh there is the younger of the two men Mycroft was meeting with the other day. He must be the apprentice to the craftsman who was unable to attend the meeting he joined a few weeks ago. There still isn’t an explanation for who the older man is or why he was also in the meeting. Just why did Mycroft want Sherlock to occupancy him to the furniture maker’s workshop?
“Xander? Where are you?” Mycroft called into the wood and tool filled room.
“Back here! Giles said you were coming.”
Mycroft walked toward the location of the voice and sounds Sherlock wasn’t sure of the cause of.
“What happened Xander? Giles called and requested I come because he wanted to speak to me regarding a difficult matter.” Mycroft said again surprising Sherlock.
Mycroft went to someone at their request for an unspecified reason was unheard of. Who ever this Giles man is, he was either incredibly important in a world power political or Mycroft actually had a friend.
“I got stuck trying to figure out some way to get two clans at war to come to some sort of hey their not fighting any more. I managed to stop them fighting each other.” Xander said appearing to be moving pieces of wood from one pile to another.
“The clans are now fighting a common enemy.” Mycroft said resting his hands on his umbrella looking at Xander.
“They now hate the council because of something I said and Giles wants your help on fixing it. If it does get fixed I’m in charge of North and South America. If it doesn’t get fixed he’s putting me in charge of a whole hemisphere of the globe. I don’t know what I did wrong, I want to fix it, and I really don’t want to be in charge of anything other than my woodshop.” Xander said tossing a last block of wood into a pile as he looked to the Holmes brothers looking crushed and defeated.
“I will speak with Giles to see if a resolution can be found that is desirable. I brought Sherlock along to speak with you about the laboratory that is labeled SH on the plans.” Mycroft calmly said as Xander’s face brightened with a bit of hope and Sherlock smiled in delight.
“A laboratory?” Sherlock asked hopefully looking to Mycroft.
“As professional as you desire, with whatever equipment, design and layout you choose.” Mycroft said watching Sherlock’s face light up in delight.
“I haven’t done one of those before. This will be fun. Thanks for talking to Giles Mycroft.” Xander said as he waved for Sherlock to follow him to his drafting table.
