Dawn didn’t even know how they’d gotten onto the subject, but somehow female anatomy had come up in the course of their BSG marathon. Sheldon had started on a tangent about Cylon models and somehow ended up there. He probably would have switched to something else, seeing as the episode that had triggered him was over. Until she said it.
“Seriously, Sheldon?” Dawn asked, getting up to grab a drink and a snack. “How would you know? You’ve never even seen a woman naked.”
“Have so,” he shot back instantly.
“Ok, to clarify,” Dawn said patiently, pouring herself a glass of milk, “family members don’t count, and I mean a real live adult woman- and not on the internet, either.”
“I’ve seen Penny naked, I believe she satisfies your criteria,” Sheldon replied with a note of triumph in his voice.
Dawn was grateful she’d been standing near the sink, because that unexpected comeback made her do a spit-take.
“Oh. My. God. How? When? Does she know?”
Sheldon gave her one of his disdainful looks.
“Of course she knows. Several years ago, she slipped in her tub and dislocated her shoulder. She requested my aid. As she was in the tub, of course she was naked. I did warn her the hero always looks.”
Dawn gaped. This was unexpected. Sheldon. And Penny. Wow. Definitely going to need some time to process this. Because no matter how much he claimed he was dedicated to science, she was pretty sure hiding somewhere underneath the overgrown child layer her temporary flatmate wore on the outside, there was in fact an adult male who didn’t understand the reality of what he was missing. Hell, just the other night she’d been arguing to Penny and Bernadette that if Data was fully functional, Sheldon was too. Bernadette had laughed. Penny had gotten quiet. That made so much more sense now.
She wondered if it was a good thing or a bad thing Amy had been working late in the lab that particular girls’ night. And speaking of Amy…
“Wait, Sheldon, does Amy know about this?” she asked.
“Why would Amy want to know?” Sheldon replied, looking puzzled.
“Good point, never mind,” Dawn said hastily. Now that she thought about it for more than two seconds, that particular bit of knowledge would probably not help the tangled ball of strange that was Shamy.
“I don’t see why you’re so surprised,” Sheldon observed, “Of our friend group, Howard is the only male who has not seen Penny naked.”
“Well I would hope he hasn’t- wait, Raj saw her naked?”
“Well, yes. They slept together in Leonard’s bed. Wait, where are you going? You promised we could have an all weekend Battlestar Galactica marathon!”
To his disgruntlement, Sheldon found himself talking to Dawn’s back as she disappeared through the apartment door.
“I did and we will,“ she called. “Consider this intermission.”
“But why? We have adequate snacks and drinks and a bathroom in our apartment!” Sheldon protested, following as far as the doorway.
“Because,” Dawn replied, knocking urgently on the door of 4B, “I have got to talk to Penny!”
