Ok, I don't know Fantasy Island, but this would be awesome on the strength of special guest Lurch alone. :) (It actually sounds like an awesome premise, and I am going to look up the show now.)
I was going to use Dobby as Buffy's assistant, but Harry wanted an Addams Family ficlet. Since it wasn't an 80s show, I had to use it as a secondary cross. Fantasy Island was...different. My strongest memory of it when I was growing up was an episode that freaked me and my cousin out (can't remember the storyline, just that it freaked us out).
Fun! And nifty explanation for what happened to Buffy when she went through the portal. I bet Buffy would be an interesting host, to say the least, ditto for Lurch as assistant.
Oh man, I have a hard time keeping a straight face when I think of Buffy and Lurch welcoming people to the island. I absolutely lose it when I picture Lurch calling out in that monotone of his, "The plane. The plane."
