Wrong Hell?
By Beriaearwen

It took a long time, longer than he imagined it would to get over the trauma of his time in Hell.

Eventually, though, the images began to fade, the memories of torture, while never disappearing, became background noise, secondary to the rest of his life.

It was then the images of her started to appear in his mind.

At first, it was just her eyes - green, determined, undefeated, unbroken, strong.

He had no idea how long he saw those eyes in the Pit, but it had been long enough to draw strength from them, long enough to see him through until Castiel rescued him.

Later, he began to remember her face, beautiful and terrible. Beautiful by any man's standards and terrible because no one that young, that beautiful should show that much wearied determination. Beautiful for the strength it displayed and terrible because of the light that seemed to shine from it, light he felt unworthy to know; it might as well have been the light of Heaven.

Once he remembered her face, the rest took little time to appear to him - her petite form, the way she searched through his section of Hell, carefully avoiding the Devil's minions, somehow remaining untouched by the darkness around her.

He had no idea how long she'd been there, time had so little meaning in Hell, but the third time he saw her, their eyes met. Each time she returned to his area, they met again, feeding him strength, feeding him hope.

The last time he saw her, she had taken refuge behind him as one of the torturers walked his route. He determined then he would do nothing to give away her presence. It was the only thanks he could give for all she'd given him.

After the minion was gone, she stepped around and stood before him. Even in Hell she smelled wonderful - sunshine, strength and woman.

Reaching up, she gently touched his cheek, caressing it for a moment. He couldn't stop the tear escaping at the first kind touch he'd felt since he arrived. She opened her mouth to say something when a completely incongruous sound drew his attention.

With a sheepish look, the woman pulled a cell phone out of her pocket and accepted the call.

“Hey Wills... No... Not here... I think it's the wrong Hell...”

Dean's mind reeled at that last phrase. Wrong Hell? Just how many Hells were there? His heart skipped a beat as he watched her bite her lip.

“All right.... Got it... See you soon.”

Ending the call, she replaced her phone in some hidden pocket he couldn't quite see and met his eyes once more. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but closed it when no words came.

Reaching up, she cupped his cheek and smiled softly at him before she disappeared in a shower of light.
