With the job finished with Nate in his hotel room reading some really old book and Sophie shopping Eliot, Hardison, and Parker ended up at the only watering hole in town. Still working on balancing the thin line of ignoring Parker and Hardison and keeping an eye on them for trouble Eliot signaled to the bartender for another beer.

Taking a couple of long drinks Eliot gave another look around the bar. Hardison and Parker were the only two people at the pool table due to Eliot’s earlier warning glare for people to stay away. Eliot was pretty sure Hardison was trying to teach Parker how to shoot a game of pool, but since Parker had held her ground against Eliot two nights ago Eliot figured she was either Parker-flirting with Hardison or simply messing with his brain.

A couple of tables with locals eating and drinking and a hot chick was sitting at the bar under the only lamp in the place that allowed for reading. Casually moving closer Eliot wanted to know what someone would be reading here.

Sitting close enough to reach out and touch the tight shirt she was wearing Eliot drank his beer enjoying the view. Timing it so he finished his beer when her drink was almost empty he bought them each a refill.

“Drink for what?” The hot reading chick asked looking from her newly filled glass to Eliot.

“Satisfying my curiosity. Watcha reading?” Eliot said pointing to the book open on the bar with the hand holding his beer.

“Superman comic book.”

Eliot wasn’t intimidated by the girl’s glare daring him to make fun of her comic book. “See the guy at the pool table? He has a room of comic books and comic stuff. I’ve snuck in a couple times to see what has him going nuts over them. I’m Eliot.”

“Faith. For almost a year the only books in English were comic books and I got hooked on them thanks to a friend who also didn’t like to research so we stuck comics into the books we were supposed to be reading.” Faith said brushing her hair out of her face before taking a drink.

“What’s going on in that one?” Eliot asked sliding over to the stool next to Faith.

“So Superman and Lois Lane are….” Half listening to the story Faith was telling and half paying attention to Parker now standing on the pool table Eliot was slightly surprised when some one shoved them selves between he and Faith. They were the only two people sitting at the bar and if who ever it was only wanted to talk to the bartender they had plenty of room.

“Hiya sweetheart. How about you come over and join me and my friends.’ The guy said smacking then grabbing on to Faith’s rear end.

Before Eliot could move Faith had turned and twisted the guy’s arm behind his back pushing him to the floor. His friends hurrying to his aid, Faith moving in fluid wildfire, and Eliot leaning back watching the show.

“What’s going on Eliot?” Hardison asked next to Eliot as Parker used the pool cue stick to poke at the ventilation duct.

“Guy hit on Faith and she didn’t like it and his buddies didn’t like how she said no.” Eliot said as one guy went through the air landing on the table he was sitting at.

“What school of fighting is that? Why aren’t you in there punching somebody?” Hardison asked putting up with cola instead of orange soda.

“Faith can more than hold her own. She’s a thing of grace and beauty, why ruin the show and her fun. I don’t know where she learned to fight but it is distinctive.” Eliot said as Faith felled the last one. “Better go find Parker. She just disappeared into the vent.”

Hardison hurrying to pull a chair under the vent to yell into it and Eliot pulling the comic close to look at the cover as Faith gave the grabby one a last kick.

“What did you say Lois was investigating?” Eliot asked happy all the distractions taken care of so he and Faith could talk.
