Aw, Anaire survived the (many) scandalous mines hewn about the event, and didn’t Actually melt from the attire of her littlest grandchild! The osanwe commentary of the older generation was delightful! Naro would be preening like a peacock after this event. Will we get to read Tinu telling him about it, or will he be left in the dark? I suppose his siblings would have the juiciest take on it, but I doubt they’d feel like sharing! (If they could.)

Anairë may be quietly scandalized by the dress, but she's not going to make a fuss about it. At least, not now. (She will quietly run damage control later.)

I don't think Feanor will be in the dark very long...

Elu Thingol knew very well what he was doing when he sent Daeron - and doubtless instructed him on the proper form of address for Anariel! And, of course, the fuss cannot be blamed on Anariel as she wasn't the one who made the announcement :)

Anairë is so determined to see as many of her relatives married off to each other as possible... and, of course, Anariel marrying another member of the Noldorin royal family would win major points in the battle of wits with Thingol. To be honest I would really like to see her marry one of the Teleri just to annoy both of them!

And it still hasn't occurred to Anairë that what Anariel is wearing is entirely of her doing - she should not have confiscated the dress Arwen made - and I really hope someone points this out to her.

Oh, he absolutely knew what he was doing. Anariel did not. And probably won't thank him for it once she realizes how on purpose it was...

Anairë wants to see both of them married, whether or not it's to each other. Though preferably to one of the Noldor...

Anairë is clever enough to work it out. (This is not her first time dealing with a princess of the Noldor with a mind of her own, after all!)

Ok. So. Not to be nit-picky, but who was it who rushed to have Anariel presented without asking her opinion or listening when she asked for time? Who was it who confiscated what was most likely a perfectly good dress with shoes? Who didn't bother to coach them on what to say and how to say it? Who was it who, essentially, threw down a gauntlet?

Hmm. I think someone got just what they deserved. Maybe a little less rushing next time and actually considering what the small warrior-elf/maia is telling you, Anaire.

Loved the discussions going on among the group. And glad that predictions were true and Anariel only had to dance with Arador after Gildor.

Anariel didn't actually ask for time! If she'd looked pitiful and said in Anairë's hearing that she wanted to stay home, Anairë probably would have set up a guard around Imladris. Not understanding each other goes both ways. (They'll learn. Both of them.)

Yes! The dress reveal! I thought it might be a plunge. Actually in my mind the whole dress is a beautifully embroidered but very un-elf-like rectangle with drop waist...more art deco than Tolkien-esque lol.

I enjoy seeing the reaction from the family at large. Will we perhaps get more on Buffy being named the heir? I feel like every time someone brings it up the implications get bigger. Maybe that's just me.

Glad you enjoyed it! :)

Art deco, drop waist, a below the knee hemline, and a plunge back is along the lines of what I was thinking. (It's the Fourth Age! The elves have all sorts of fashion, not just what we're used to thinking of as Tolkien-esque!)

I'm sure there will be more about Buffy being named Thingol's heir eventually, but probably not in Tirion...
