We have determined the following about the tertiary subjects:
Goof is high school classmate, Alexander ‘Xander’ Harris
Ginger is another classmate, Willow Rosenberg
B1 is Tara McClay, girlfriend of Ginger - new Codename: Mouse
B2 is Anya Jenkins, girlfriend of Goof - new Codename: Nymph
Side note about Nymph: we have not been able to find records for her before 1999 (possible mole?)
Despite yesterday’s failures, we are continuing with our current team, apart from Nickel, who is AWOL
Subject Ditz had a guest come to her home this morning - Codename: Nescafé - and Artsy was not pleased to see him. Possible romantic connection? Ditz and Nescafé left in his vehicle. We followed them to the shopping district and watched them go into a store called - and this isn’t a codename - Uncle Bob’s Magic Cabinet.
They came out almost immediately and shortly thereafter, the police arrived. A body was removed while Ditz and Nescafé were briefly questioned. They went to another magic shop and came out with some bags.
Hypothesis: Ditz and/or her associates are into New Age stuff. Could be another explanation for disconnect with the Major.
From there, they went to an apartment building - presumably Nescafé’s home - and were joined by Mouse, Nymph, Goof and Ginger. They spent the day there reading books and playing with the New Age stuff.
Determined Nescafé’s identity: Rupert Giles, citizen of United Kingdom and from 1997-1999 had a visa to be the high school librarian. Need more background on him. Another possible deep-cover mole.
The younger subjects plan to stay in at Ditz’s house and watch movies all night.

Buffy’s POV
As they drove downtown, Buffy asked Giles, “What do you think of our shadows?” referring to the vehicle following them a couple blocks back.
“They’re most likely harmless,” he replied dismissively. “The people behind the Initiative probably just want to be sure you don’t plan to talk about the operation to the news.”
“If I didn’t spill after Riley died, what makes them think that I’ll do it now?” Buffy demanded. Her boyfriend’s death during the final battle was disturbing on a couple levels for the Slayer. The obvious first level was somebody close to her died…again.
The bigger disturbance was that she wasn’t as heartbroken as she thought she should be. She’d never admit this to anyone, but a tiny sliver of a molecule of her was relieved. He was a very nice distraction, and she honestly cared about him, but she never had that moment where she pictured a future with him. Worse, she could almost see his step-by-step plans leading to their 2.3 children and dog. Despite her youth, she knew that when two people saw their relationship that differently, there were problems. She just didn’t know how to get him to put the brakes on his plans.
“So, what are we shopping for today?” she asked to change the subject.
Only to find out that Giles wasn’t quite as blasé about their shadows as he was pretending to be. “We’re buying some protection spell ingredients so we can put up spells in case they are here for more nefarious reasons.”
Buffy’s house
“We’re just hanging out, pretending to be boring?” Anya inquired, a little confused by the evening’s plans.
Xander hugged her and clarified, “And there’s nothing exciting happening in town, so movie night is just as good.”
“Plus, it gives us a chance to put our protection talismans together!” Willow added excitedly.
“Yay stinky herbs!” Buffy cheered sarcastically.
A few hours later, she looked out where the spook car was parked earlier, only to find it missing. She glanced as far up and down the street as she could but didn’t see it anywhere.
“I’m going for a walk to make sure they didn’t run into trouble,” she told the gang.
“Want company?” Xander asked, looking very comfortable on the couch with Anya.
Buffy smirked and was tempted to say yes, but she just waved him off. “I shouldn’t be gone long.”

Subject Ditz and associates have been watching Bollywood movies for the last SIX hours and making up their own dialogue! This is why stakeouts are considered tedious.
To pass the time, we’ve brainstormed reasons for the estrangement between Ditz and the Major. The most likely is that Ditz is lesbian, and the Major can’t/won’t accept it given the military’s stance on it. Rumor around town is that Ditz was rarely seen with guys in high school. One guy she ‘dated’ was gay himself, so they were likely each other’s beards.
The least likely is that the sisters don’t remember each other because their minds were wiped by aliens.
Fortunately, our backup should be here shortly so we can go search for our missing team member, Nickel. Also, the day leader has informed us that two of his teammates haven’t returned to the hotel after dinner.

A/N: I went AU in the timeline as well as the story.
