We'll see how it pans out...Family First reckon they're compassionate towards asylum seekers at least. We'll see how much of the whole "Satan's strongholds" and "burning lesbians at the stake" stuff is bullshit rhetoric. The internet censorship...it won't work, no matter what legislation they try to bring in, it will just make things harder. I suspect they'll probably be like Brian Harradine was. But still, it's a sobering thought that the Family First are unwilling to sell Telstra at this stage (translation: "give us our conservative social agenda, and we'll let you").

I wanted to vote for the Democrats in the Senate but didn't want to go near Family First. It was a pain filling out the 78 boxes. Especially since after about 15-16 boxes I ran out of things I actually kinda liked. So I counted down from 78 to 17. It was also hard figuring out who I hated most. But anyway.

i must confess, i voted above the line (greens) and crossed my fingers. although fran's post re the greens nsw prefs reassures me. the req to fill out *all* the boxes seems like one of those pointless stipulations designed to produce lots of void-votes..

when the chaser guy presented the mal award to the family first woman (hrm. i should learn some names :P) she seemed utterly straitened and humourless. but i suppose it wasn't a very easy situation for someone not used to the glare of the chaser/northshorehand-biting spotlight. their position on refugees is interesting....
