It's the end of an era

They're canceling Reading Rainbow.

I still know the whole original theme song. Levar Burton hasn't aged a day. That show has been on the air for as long as I can remember.

I really hope Sesame Street isn't next.

what the everloving heck, movies and tv, sad

Actually, they haven't made a new episode in years. The syndication contract ended today, so it's going to be pulled from rotation. However, it's scheduled to be released to DVD. I think I may have to get a set so nieces and nephews can learn what TV was like when it was good.

Yeah, they've been doing re-runs forever. For at least two years, maybe three. It's time for something new. Besides, Between the Lions has pretty much taken over that style for PBS. About. . . six months ago, I think, I saw the one where he goes to the set of TNG and talks about how they make TV shows and movies. That was my favorite as a kid, and it's still a big favorite now.

I do miss the stickers on books, though. You could tell something was an all right read with those stickers.

Reading Rainbow HAS been on since you could remember...
It may have been one of the things that inspired you to be a writer when you had just figured out what language was and it's power.I loved RR.Still do.When you were a baby and toddler, I had a rule that you were not allowed to watch anything other than Public Television childrens programming.Your Sitters complied... (grand Dad not so much)
@11 months old, your babysitter called me at work so I could hear you singing along with the theme song...everyword as clear as a little bell and such a complex melody...and you nailed it..
it was so very very sweet and good. You sang it for me again when I went to pick you up....
